The Knuckleheads are still doing their weekly Wednesday night program from 8 to
11pm
Mountain time on KDSK FM Grants, New Mexico. The Insane Darrell Wayne had to
skip town
last week so he wasn't on.

1st, a big thanks to Don McDonald that helped me locate the
artist/title of the song " Blues Theme " out of 1967 by Davie Allan &
The Arrows which was driving me crazy for years!

2nd, My avid listening to KD for over 5 years shows me KD Radio has a
new host/DJ David Jay.

Maybe KD can post David's picture among the others so us listeners can
see the face of the voice we rarely see in radio.

And thirdly, I'm extremely grateful & fortunate to have KD Radio's
icon on my desktop & able to click this icon at startup knowing all
these friendly DJ/Host's are there playing songs I know well & some
that were forgotten but still in the memory banks of my mind that were
awaken!
Keep up the outstanding work KD! Ron...

Ron,

David Jay was a "fill in" host over the Christmas holidays. He will
not be a regular host. However, there will be a new DJ/host starting
in mid January. His name is Dan Whiteside. He will start off slowly
at first, with one show every month or so... eventually working his
way up to weekly, then maybe even daily. We'll just have to see how
it goes.

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has seen this movie, because I
have it, and have not been able to find info about most of the bands
who only had a few hits, and disappeared. This includes bands such as
the M6, the Saint louis Union, and the Lorne Gibson Trio.

Hi,

I read in New Mexico magazine that Abe Pena does a show on KDSK about
Cibola county. Is that true? If so, when does the show broadcast?
Any chance for podcasts?

Thank,

Just wanted to at least toss my sombrero into the fray and introduce myself as a
new
member, and also a new resident to Grants. I worked in radio for 25 years,
mainly
rock n' roll radio in Deeee-troit, Michigan and in the Bay Area of San
Francisco. I also
am a freelance writer of pop culture of the 1950's and 1960's and lived in the

I also wanted to find out about any events coming up in the coming year for
Route 66
and for Classic Car Shows. I will be moving to Grants and be in town by the
10th of
February to pursue my freelance writing career. I write for numerous
publications
geared to the car enthusiast like Cruisin California, Auto-Roundup, Drive! and a

others so if you have one hell of a classic car and story to go with it would
appreciate
it...Rock On!

Thanks for all the great music. With no oldies station left in Los
Angeles, I enjoyed hearing your station. As a former oldies dj, at
the Old KRLA - early 80's, that worked with the likes of Art Laboe,
Huggy Boy, Johnny Hayes, Dave Hull, Humble Harv, etc. It was great to
hear the 50's music again.

Hello!

I recently put up a new website devoted to the legendary Bobby Darin, DarinLand.com, with articles, interviews, reviews, a weekly poll, a Bobby Darin forum, CDs, DVDs and lots of other stuff.

In the Articles and Features section you'll find interviews with Perry Botkin (arranger for Bobby's "In a Broadway Bag" album), jazz vocalist Elli Fordyce (Bobby's friend and Bronx Science classmate), and David Winters (producer of the Darin Invasion TV Special, member of the original Broadway cast of West Side Story, and Bobby's close friend since 1957). There are also articles about Bobby's singles, his years at Capitol, and his acting career.

Additionally, I have a Bobby Darin Blog at Blogspot:

BobbyDarinBlog

And a Bobby Darin page on MySpace:

DarinLand at MySpace

See you all in BobbyLand!

I frequently listen to KDSK in the middle of the night and it frustrating to hear a song you like and not get a band name or song title. I've tried calling the station during business hours to request info but have not had much luck getting the info I require. Any chance KDSK will start announcing band names and titles in the wee hours in the morning?

Hello Multi-XX,
Regarding announcing what each song is
in the middle of the night, there is not
complete agreement one way or the other
- some like it, some don't in the middle
of the night. Most KDSK songs are very
recognizable. You can hear song titles
announced (usually after a few have
played) on "sister station" KD Radio
Internet all night. Don McDonald

Grants and turns out he's originally from the Motor City..DEEEEEEE-
TROIT, the unofficial home of rock n' roll, forgetabout
Cleveland..being a born and bred plaid and prouder from the Rustbelt
City me'self was glad to bounce some memories around with him..now are
there any tie-dyed spare changers in here? I lived in the Haight
district in 1966 until 1968, before and after the Summer of Love was
fashionable so if anyone else was there then lemme know..maybe we
shared milk and cookies or patchoulie incense or something. I lived on
Haight street and on Page for awhile then moved to California street so
maybe that will help the GPS memory joggers...before that I lived in
Hawaii on the beach so if your a former beach bum lemme know that
too..groovy!

Michael..finger poppin' here...Bobby is one of the best and also as a
producer and gotta admit, one of my fave tunes by him is "Clementine" I
have that on cassette and when hitting the highways on roadtrips pop it
in and do my best mobile Darin imitation. Distracts those other drivers
but that's life, thats what people say...sorry, that's Sinatra..but a
finger popper nonetheless....We are planning on doing a Finger Popper

Unfortunately we will be north of the Colorado in northern Arizona,
southern Utah and so will not hit 66.

We will be there in early August when the weather is nice and warm
('only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun'). Bryce
Canyon 3rd (will I be able to pick up your station as far away as
Bryce - you are on Friday night n'est pas ?), Lake Powell 4th & 5th,
North Rim Grand Canyon 6th, Vegas 7th - 11th.

Viking Pubster: Bring your laptop along Amigo and yep, can blast away.
This Friday may be of interest to you and your fellow countrymen, lads
and lassies...no, not the British Invasion but Redcoat Rock! So as your
hoisting a few along with the Who on the radio think of us here in the
colonies. Cargoe says hi by the by and will meet us all in the
southwest this summer too. Coming here for a visit and hoping we could
have run into you but will have a Moosehead or two in your honor anyway.

The Roadhead Chronicles Blue Suede Cruise Radio show has been online
now for a month and been a rockin' and a rollin' with rockabilly, car
tunes and a tribute to the wild man of rock, Jerry Lee Lewis. The bad
boy from Louisiana. This Friday Night we fill up the nostalgia pipe
with purple hazed and double dazed Sixties. We're also registering
listeners to win a copy of the book, "THE ROADHEAD CHRONICLES" for a
big drawing at the end of the month. All you have to do is email us at
theroadheadrocks@... and give us your top three favorite oldies
and at the end of the month we'll have a drawing for the winner. Badda
bing, badda boom.

The show is on KDSK radio at http://www.kdsk.com and airs online at
7:00 PM Mountain Time in the United States. Check it out and kick
asphalt!

Zola Taylor, who broke gender barriers in the 1950s as a member of The
Platters, harmonizing with her male colleagues on hits like "The Great
Pretender," has died.
She was 69.

Taylor, who later gained attention of a different sort as one of three women
who claimed to be pop idol Frankie Lymon's widow, passed away Monday, said
her nephew Alfie Robinson. She had been bedridden following several strokes
and died at Parkview Community Hospital in Riverside County from
complications of pneumonia, he said.
