Enjoy part 1 and 2 !
If the link does not work just search Singer:Ali Rostamian Kamanche:Asghar Bahari on Youtube.

I am sure some friends have some special commentary they can offer about this video. Please share feelings and information. Please keep in mind some of us can't understand the lyrics and yet still are astounded by the beauty of the vocals. The kamancheh is too beautiful for words to describe !

To me, the instrument depicted here is not a kamancheh but some kind of a bowed tanboor or a chaghaneh. The shape and the soundholes don't add up to a kamancheh (unless we're only talking about the bow). It would be nice to hear everyone's ideas.
This instrument is also noteworthy. It looks like a lyra or some type of a viol. It also has frets!
Musical instruments, especially the old ones, always fascinate me.
Regards,
Peyman

Dear members,
here you can find very rare photos related to Azeri and Persian classical music:
Dear Friends , Here is an interesting page in Persian language. It has several pictures of instruments made by Ostad Jaleh in Iran : http://www.siyahmashgh2.blogfa.com/post-352.aspx
ALSO If anybody has a current email or contact for Ostad Allahyari please forward/post it.
Dear members,

Can someone please tell us something about this fast style of music ? Is there a well know Master of this style ? Is playing this fast exciting tempo standard style ?
Please give me your general ideas. I need to be educated !
Thanks! I'll check out the link and look into the book.

Search the group. I think Parham reposted it:

(a methods book and a radif book, where the tunings came from). Try
Ketab.com if you're in the US.

Hey all, I'm new to the group and I'm really glad to have come across it. I'm in a Middle Eastern band that plays for a belly dance company and we're looking to expand our instrument repertoire. I've played the violin for the past 13 years and thought learning the Kamanche would be fun! However, I have no clue where to look to find instructional books or lessons. I have come across the various ways to tune, but that's about it. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips? Thanks!

Now a days lot of people making kamancheh or starting making them. But those who make quality instruments with good touch and nice sound and making them for long time are AmirAtaee in Tehran and Kurdi in Karaj. these are top of the line as far as I know and their kamancheh are more expensive.

Dear Kamancheh friends !
Has anybody heard of either of these two Kamancheh makers ?
Ostad Marahemi
Farhad Delshad
Any information about them would be helpful ! Thanks
Thanks for sharing this video. I wanted to hear that beautiful kamancheh and you did an excellent job! I like the shape of the bowl (kaseh) on that kamancheh and have it in mind so if I make a kamancheh, I'll use that shape! It's very unique.

Peyman
