I am using the Korg DS-10 a lot for composing on
The train. I like the gameboy interface and
It is very deep but intuitive interface.

I think the kids will grow up with Korg love

Check out their inventory to see what size you need. A little
expensive but WELL worth it!

Russ,

I like the Kaossilator stuff. I have one too and am newly inspired by
your work. Where did you get the keyboard rack? Looks like just what I
need for my growing collection: Korg TR61, MS2000B, Casio CTK-810 and
Kaysound MK-4092 Controller.

If it's been out of commission for a while, there might be corrosion built up in
the pot. Radio Shack used to sell little cans of aerosol contact/pot cleaner
that you could carefully spray inside the control (after removing the knob).
But, that's usually a "fix" if you have a noisy or intermittent pot.
You could also try connecting another keyboard to the MIDI in jack, and see if
you can get anything happening that way.

             HMMM...OK look, I don't even own one anymore, so I can't remember
which

of the two (or more) user's groups on yahoo has the best info, but:

1. Search for the other group on Yahoo, one of them has all the files,

versions of OS, manual and advice you will ever need to deal with this.

God forbid you might actually have to read the manual. After you reset

the thing, and all the menus appear to work, then make sure you are

actually tracking your keyboard for your MIDI input channel and that

your output stage is turned on and up.

IF it is running ANY OS at all, it is probably OK and your problem is

minor. Like I said, if it is an old blue one, the volume pot tends to go

out, you can check for signal at its input stage.....just replace the

potentiometer. Other than that they tend to be bulletproof.

You have to back up and say to what degree its "not working"....if you
are looking at a fully lit machine that sends MIDI, then your problem
could be nothing beyond the last output stage.

If this is so, is it transmitting the full range of MIDI, not just the
keyboard, but do the knobs send CC messages? If you don't have a
computer or software set up to tell you this, never mind...

I have bought an MS2000 on craigslist. I bought it knowing it wasn't working.
The guy I
bought it from said it doesn't make sound but it sends midi ect.

I have opened it up and followed some instruction on this site to unseat and
reconnect all the
wires. Still no luck. There was an eprom mentioned, where is this located? Most
of the chips
look like they are soldered in.

It looks like it is fried, but I figured I would ask here anyway.

Ok!

Give me a few days; I'm in the middle of an unbelievable workload
right now, but I'll upload as soon as I get a chance. I now have about
8 or 10 patches I've created myself. I haven't yet tried uploading
patches, so it might take me a little bit to figure it out the first
time around.

The reason everyone keeps getting the "roland snickers is out of the office"
message is that,
as moderator, he gets informed of every new post. He's set his out-of office
system to
respond to them all.

The only way to stop this before August is to elect a new moderator.

If YOU want to be the new moderator, post a reply to this message, clearly
stating that you
want to be the new mod.

I will then post a poll where you can vote for a new moderator. Once it
finishes, I report the
result to Yahoo, and they promote the winner to moderator. (This is how I ended
up as
moderator of the Crumar group.)

SO. IF YOU WANT TO BE THE NEW MODERATOR, POST A REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE, CLEARLY
STATING THAT YOU WANT TO BE CONSIDERED.

(Started a new thread. No point this being in the
"no-moderator-moaning" thread..)

The "reversed" microKorg follows on from the tradition set by the
"reversed" Poly 800.

I've owned a few "normal" p800s, but was never
able to find a "reversed" one for reasonable money. Again, there's no
additional features, it's just a visual thing. And why not?
I have a "normal" microKorg, but I'd be happy to pay a "bit" more for
a "reversed" one.

Would look great on stage, don't you think?

so, i suppose the korg members group is up and running again? what
are people thinking about the new Micro Korg Lmtd Edition? it's a
reverse style keyboard, from what i read on the site. and that's
crazy. i have the original, and used to have the ms2000...i didn't
really like the ms2000 because of the weighty keys and the confusion
of trying to control so much and get back to what i was thinking about
doing with my fingers.

so, anyways,....the microKorg rocks. but i look forward to hearing
peoples remarks on the new Limited Editon MicroKorg.

i need to know the craziness!!!

Right. What you need to do is this:
Contact Yahoo! groups support, and explain that there is no moderator.
You then post a message, asking for volunteers, and run a poll of the
members (making sure that you advertise this), for a new moderator.
Run the poll for at least a week, and then contact Yahoo! Groups
support again, requesting that they promote the winner.

I have just done EXACTLY this, over on the CRUMAR group.

If you wish, I will contact them and start the ball rolling.

Paul.

I use a Yamaha magic stomp for a lot of multieffects
and like the computer usb interface-small lots of
options.

Keeping it all Korg. I also have a korg pandora I use
a lot cause it's small and easy to bring along it has
usable ring modulator, distortions, echo and a synth
setting which is nice - the size of a can of sardines.
I believe they make larger units as well. I also have
a old Korg A3 rack which is nice (eno and US use them.
As well they seem to have larger effects units. I also
have a Kaos pad but it is not so good for stacking
more than one effect at a time or at least the last
generation of them were not.

Not yet -- I have never actually uploaded any patches out of my MK to
the computer, so I'l lhave to figure out how to do that first. But I need to
figure that
out anyway, so it's good incentive. I'll see if I can get them into syx format.
I have the MK
editor from Korg as well as another sysex patch librarian.

Here's the patches I have so far:

Jazz Guitar (tremolo on mod wheel)
FM bell/celeste (FM depth on mod wheel)
Portamento Lead
Ring Mod sweep
Long Mod Dark Pad
"Dalek"-like voice modifier (ext audio Ring Mod)

Not a huge collection just yet, but I'd be happy to either upload them here
or put a pointer to them on my website. A good project for the weekend.

Hi Russ ,

You are right. We have here
little activity.
I'm interesting in your new
patches.
Do you have your patches in
syx files ???

Cheers,

Roberto

This list has been pretty quiet lately...

I've had my MicroKorg out and about a little lately -- I'm my wife's roadie , so
I've been
dragging my MK along to her gigs (weddings, receptions, etc) to have something
to do while
waiting to pack everything back up.

One thing I've noticed --- when running on batteries, about two or three minutes
after turning the unit on, there's this short burst of noise which happens once
and then not again until you turn it off and back on. It's not even very loud,
but it seems to do it every time, and only when on batteries, as far as I can
tell.

Anybody else experience this?

Aside from that, I've been making up some new patches; I'll upload them if
anyone's
interested.

Russ

I have both MicroKorg and Ms-2000. Now there is a Korg R3! They
haven't post a video or even audio yet but I can't wait to hear what
it sounds like. Looks very cool and has a nice touch of style. What do
you people think?

Alright - we've been using our MK for our live shows, and every single
time we get terrible feedback from the vocoder.
We don't use the mic that was included w/ the MK, but a pretty decent,
but cheap, mic w/ an XLR -> 1/4" cable. We've tried not using a stage
monitor for the keyboard, tried adjusting the input gain, changing the
position on stage, but regardless...we get awful feedback.
Has anyone found a workaround (or two) so we can reliably use our
vocoder on stage? Should I get a cheap-o Radio Shack dynamic mic?

Thanks!

Hi all... I decided to post a small handful of my synth
tunes on my webpage for all the world to see. Most are
done on my Korg gear, except for one from my QS6.

http://www.whiterose.net/~russ/synth.html

I'll freely admit most of what's there needs some work, but
I'm open to anyone telling me otherwise.

Have a listen and let me know what you think!
