The samples do not match up perfectly. Picking a replacement sample that is
"Close" is a judgement call.

No, the flute sample may be in position xyz in one synth and pdq in the other.
You would need to build a table and use it as reference.

The header and footers are standard. What comes in between is custom. That is
why different synths have different length sysex messages.

I don't know the specifics between the 03 and 05, but in some of the korg synths
a parameter may only have a range of 0 to 63, while in another korg model that
same parameter may have a range of 0 to 127. You have to take these things into
consideration when doing the conversions.

If you can figure the differences out (easily done by reviewing the midi spec of
each) you should be able to do manually what the conversion program does. It
could be a timely process though. Hope you are able to work it out.
