Hi all,
As it is rapidly coming up to Christmas, and we at SoundTower are
going to be taking a little time off to be with our families, I
thought it might be appropriate to take a little time now to wish
all of you participating on the board the best of the Season and the
New Year.
We have appreciated you and your moderator allowing us the
opportunity to have access to your board when appropriate and have
enjoyed, and found very valuable, all the suggestions you have sent
to us over the year. We can't do it without you.
So, have a merry and safe holiday, we will be hard at it Jan 1 '07.
If you have to contact us for service or software issues over the
holidays this email address will be monitored for that purpose.
Thanks again for a great year!
The SoundTower Team.

My particular interest at the time was the #ProducerKit (9) and the
#VeloGated (59). For the project I was working on I just created a
few audio loops by recording midi loops assigned to the Korg.
However, I would be happy with anything I could get. As you're
probably aware, creating good sample maps can be very tedious,
especially when you're using velocity layers, which I think you
would have to do to make these samples realistic.
Hi
There are several:

Editors gets our programmer directly and often it will get sent to me at the

how have you set up two korg 03r/w's? both utilizing combi, both
utilizing multi, or one as combi/multi and one as prog? a mate just
lent me another korg 03r/w for a year, on the promise that i do "cool
presets" for him, and i'm yet to figure out how i want to integrate
two into my setup. is there a way to make "exhausted-polyphony" bleed
into the other one.. or would it just make the most sense to use them
as two different racksynths.. both in prog-mode with 2 stereo out ..
also, has anyone figured out anything sensible to do with the
parallel/serial -patching of the effects, i.e. is there something
interesting to be done with feeding the dry out via 1-2 and effect
via 3-4, something that wouldnt just feel idiotic?

Hi all,
The team at SoundTower has spent the balance of this year on
redevelopment plans that have involved looking at all of our
existing programs with an eye for optimization, enhancement and
cross-platform compatibility. Part of the process has been tested
successfully in rebuilding our editor for Waldorf's Q, Roger Linn's
Adren II and a new editor for M-Audio's BLACKBOX for Mac and PC
platforms.
We are now reorganizing our resources to make the best use of our
programmer's time over the next year. We plan on looking at each of
our programs for conversion but we are only going to do this after
getting as much input from users of our current programs.
In light of these developments we are putting out a call for input.
We are hoping for more that just polite comment but concrete
suggestions that we might be able to implement in our new structure.
Some of the small things we have started, and will continue to do,
is re-packaging our existing programs in an installer which includes
our licensing agreement and User Guide in PDF that will be installed
on your OS for easier reference.
We have in development an help page that will have all of our FAQ's
and User Guides linked, as well as websites for patches, organized
for one stop resource if it has to deal with our programs.
This is part of our ongoing concern for our customers well being. I
am fervent in my desire that move forward only with your imput.
The two main areas of endeavour that has consummed our time of late
has been the rebuilding of our programs for use on both MAC and PC
platforms and developing the ground work for VST plugin capability
for our future editors.
So please send me any of your comments for improvement and wishes
for software. I cannot promise the implementation of all of your
ideas but I promise a considered review of anything you send to us.
Much of our improvements over the years have been inspired by, if
not outright suggested by, you.
Thanks for your time

HI EVERYBODY: FIRST REGARDS TO ADMIN, FOR DID THIS GROUP. AND AFTER
THAT, I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEMS. I RECENTLY BOUGHT
A 03RW, BUT I NOTICED THAT MINE'S CURRENT ROM VERSION IT'S #13, I COULD
NOTICE THAT SOME GLOBAL OPTIONS AREN'T AVAILABLE, THERE'S NO EFFECT
MENU, AND WHEN I TRY TO SET THE MIDI CHANNEL ABOVE OF 8, APPEARS A
MESSAGE WITH THE CURRENT VERSION AND TURNS TO THE COMBI MODE 00, LIKE A
RESET. Y COULDN'T RECEIVE SYSEX MESSAGES IN THE 03RW TOO,AND AT LAST,
WHEN I SEND A PROGRAN CHANGE OR IF I PRESS A KEY OR A CHORD IN MY
CONTROLLER INMEDIATLY AFTER THAT YOU HEARD THE SYNTH SOUND YOU CAN HEAR
SOMETHING LIKE AN ELECTRIC PULSE ON THE AUDIO AND PHONES. IT'S LIKE
WHEN YOU USE A LOT OF DELAY AND YOU CAN HEAR A TAP AFTER THE SOUND. I
DON'T KONW IF THIS COULD BE FIXED WITH AN UPDATE, OR IT'S A ELECTRONIC
PROBLEM, THE MODULE SOUNDS GREAT, IT HAS SOME TASTY SOUND, LIKE THE
EPS, STRINGS AND THOSE FAT ANALOG SOUNDS.
GREETINGS.
HECTOR.
Just checking out the group. I am still very new to midi.. My yamaha
pf80, two korg m3r's, and a few other modules make up my midi studio,
then I have a recording studio plus video - dvd editing/burning... I
have my guitars - strings, brass and a few other of my instruments...
I was hoping someone could help find a few things I am having trouble
locating.. one is a service manual for my pf - 80 because the first
three a flats below middle c short in and out when it takes a notion..
Card sets for the Korg M3r... I keep up with a few of the sites like
ebay and such to try to find them... just can't afford some of the
outrageous prices asked at the auction houses... if anyone can help I
would be so greatful!!

hey.. just wondering if any of you have made a korg03rw template for
the remote25SL? i keep looking at the korg03rw sysex etc bit of the
manual, and i just cant understand. i can configure the remote25SL to
send out sysex, but have no idea how to change any single parameter in
program-mode. please let me know if you can.. thank you so much.
Hi, yes there were more cards than the 6 sets produced. I know there
was a UPC-11,12 & 13 that were just program data cards that use the
03r/w's internal PCM only. The 6 are only the ones Korg made that
came as a set with a PCM and a Program card.
Patches that use card PCM waves simply check the "C00-C99" memory for
the card's PCM waves. That's what makes mixing different PCM &
Program cards work, and fun. The 03r/w doesn't "care" what wave is in
C01 and C17 if a patch/combi uses them. If no card waves are present
the sound is played as best the 03 can if any internal PCM waves are
used. If a patch uses only PCM card waves then you get....well
silence.
Not entirely sure about your patch organiztion question though. If a
computer editor doesn't do it for you a blank SRC256 or SRC512 card
would work well to send your favorite patches/combis to that from the
current internal bank. If you meant about patches that use different
PCM cards being used & saved, you could either find a similar wave(s)
in the internal PCM, or making your own custom cards does work (I
still do it). You must use your own samples rather than copy some
from one card and some from another though. Hope I've been of some
help.

Hi Synthflake, hello again, small world, you bought a soundcard off me
for the 03 a couple of weeks ago !!
To answer your question about the 01/w to 03 , sayers site has a
section on this where someone has done some converstions, click links
on this page and then sounds link in the sayers site.
Hope this helps

Hey, many thanks for making the set of cards available for all of
us, I have just sold on eBay an original card named SOUND
ALTERNATIVES UPC-11, please see image at this link

This card does not appear on the list so could there have been more
that 6 produced by KORG ?
I think I have my 03 loaded with this card, however due to some midi
problems I won't be able to dump it to sysex just yet, but when I do
I'll have a go at posting for everyone.
Am I right in thinking that if you don't have the corresponding pcm
card that the 03 displays a blank sreen with no sound but only for
certain patches, the ones it does display when using the sound cards
must use the factory loaded PCM data.
In which case this makes it very difficult to select say your
favourite top 20 patches from the various cards and have them all
stored on the 03 as internal combis etc, ?
Any ideas of how to organise this would be welcome, I must admit I
have never got to grips with sysex as yet so please explain simple
terms, many thanks again.
Happy 03ing'
Hi Ed, thank you again for the information, I have sent this the buyer, hoefully
he will take heed and give it a try,it would cost $70 usd send it back to the UK
so I hope he sees the light.
Will keep you in touch.
Have a nice day !

Hi Neil,
I had a minute to check my own 03RW which is set up for USA 120 volt mains.
If your buyer has a little tech skills, he can make a simple modification to
make it compatible. It would involve replacing the power cord (3 wire with US
type plug) and moving one lead on the power transformer. Just as I figured,
the power transformer was manufactured for various voltage systems worldwide.
How they connect to the local "mains" is merely how the wires feeding it are
connected. Total cost for making the modification would be the cost of the
power cord (approx $6 USD) depending where he bought it.

Another suggestion, I haven't had a chance to look it up, that being some of
these types of units have dual voltage capabilities built in requiring
perhaps a jumper change and a new US standard line cord. The fact is, the
internal
operating (low) voltage is fixed. How you get from which ever mains (supply)
is only a "minor" detail. I may have a chance to look into this later, but
it certainly would be better than is ship it across the pond again.

Ed

Hi Thank you for the info you have sent to the group, I have sent this to the
buyer to consider before he returns the 03 to me in the U.K.
I would prefer he tries that first, after all he must have wanted an 03 quite
bad to order from the UK.
I will let you all know the outcome shortly.

Neil.

Further looking at you post again, 240 Volts at 16 watts (Euro) roughly
converts to 110 Volts (US) at 32 watts. Within the limits of the Radio shack
converter.

I don't think it will do any damage as voltage is too
weak. If it was the other way around, then yes (US to
UK). However, I don't see how was he able to plug the
thing in without using a converter, since european
plugs do not fit in US/Canadian outlets. So, chances
are, he couldn't even attempt to plug it in.

Does anyone know of a set of 03R/W sampled sounds and maps--something
you would be able to load into a software sampler like Kontakt? Would
especially be interested in the drum kits.
Hi I am no expert on transferring sounds and importing them, the card I have for
the 03 are on eBay at the moment but they have preprogrammed sounds on them,I am
not sure how to help you as I am not familiar with the Triton.
Try looking at a dedicated Triton site on the internet.
