Hey all!
The last Nolafunk show (with Bonerama) on June 19th was great! Thanks to all who came out-- we had a blast, and we hope you did too! Heads up on the next show that'll bring some more good ol' Crescent City Funk to a New Yorker's backyard: Big Sam's Funky Nation on Thursday, July 16th!
If you haven't seen or are not familiar with Big Sam yet... He's a funky good time-- Playing his trombone powerfully, skillfully, and energetically, and second-lining (a uniquely New Orleans style of street-dance) between his solos and riffs. You'll dance your booty off.
He and his Funky Nation played last week at New Orleans Essence Festival-- Here's a great video to check out: Big Sam paying tribute to Michael Jackson with "Dancing Machine"
Special guest opener Josh Dion is another returning favorite at Sullivan Hall. This singing drummer has seriously soulful vocals and consistently lays down a tight, funky beat. Show starts at 8:30pm.
