1. LANDMARQ UNDERWORLD GIG ON AGAIN!
-----------------------------------------------
The saga continues with the recently cancelled Greenslade/Landmarq gig
at the Underworld, Camden, (LENL #65) having been re-instated with
ex-Hawkwind sax player NIK TURNER'S SPACE RITUAL and Landmarq playing
on the original date of THURSDAY 11TH MARCH 2004. This band must, at
times, have more original Hawkwind members than Hawkwind! Those
fortunate enough to see Landmarq back in 2001 in Mexico at Baja Prog
2001 may remember Nik Turner joining Landmarq on stage for their final
number, 'Summer Madness'. It should be a very entertaining evening.
'Space Ritual' website: http://www.spaceritual.net
[Please note this gig is now fully confirmed though, at the time of
writing, the Underworld website shows Landmarq playing with
ex-Hawkwind guitarist Huw Lloyd Langton Group which was another
alternative possibility].
Doors open: 19:00.
Tickets: £10.00 advance.
Venue address: 174 Camden High Street, London NW1 0NE (020 7482 1932).

Advance tickets available for most shows from The World's End Pub
(next to the Underworld).

2. STEVE GEE SESSIONS FOR PETE BANKS/SYN
-----------------------------------------------
Bassist Steve Gee has been busy recording with ex-Yes guitarist Peter
Banks on a new project that sees the 'revival' of his pre-Yes band,
The Syn. The original line-up also included bassist Chris Squire,
though he was unavailable for the project. Other members taking part
from the original line-up include Steve Nardelli on lead vocals and
Martyn Adelman on drums. Recording has been taking place in south
London at Strangeways, the private studio of Paul Stacey (Oasis, Chris
Robinson) who has also been on hand providing technical assistance and
rocket fuel!
Piano and keys are from Gerard Johnson (Saint Etienne, Funky Monkey,
a.o.) who is also engineering the project.
The new sessions have involved the recording of three brand new
versions of songs which will be released on a compilation CD entitled
'Original Syn' that chronicles the history of the band. Two of the
'new' songs are from Syn's original repertoire, one of which is a
3-part mini-epic, 'Illusions', plus a brand new working of the Yes
classic, 'Time And A Word' also turned into a mini-epic three-parter.
Also included are some rare unreleased recordings of Pete Banks and
Chris Squire playing together, during the earliest days of the band,
along with other members of the band.
A new Syn website is planned for the near-future.

3. GONZALO "SUPERTRIB" BAND AND OTHER GIG DATES
-----------------------------------------------
Keyboardist Gonzalo has a new side-line having joined with a few
notables to form a Supertramp tribute band.
Line-up includes ex-Landmarq vocalist Damian Wilson and drummer Bob
Dalton (It Bites, John Wetton). Other members include Anthony Clayton
(guitar), Jerry Cunningham (bass and vocals), Nick Slack (Hammond
Organ) and Laurent Hunziker (sax) who guested with Landmarq at the
beginning of their 2003 shows at the Underworld and Club Riga..
Further details: http://supertrampers.online.fr
Gonzalo will also be playing 2 dates with the Anthony Clayton and
Siemy Di Group when they will be supporting Japanese female prog band
Ars Nova. Dates are: Classic Rock Society, Rotherham, Sat 27th March &
The Underworld, London, Sun 28th March.

The busy keyboardist has also recently played at the Wembley
Conference Centre's Expo 2004 show with producer/engineer Paul Wiffen
and vocalist Simone Kaye.

4. DAVE WAGSTAFFE SESSIONS FOR OLIVER WAKEMAN, MARTIN DARVILL
-----------------------------------------------
Drummer Dave Wagstaffe has been equally busy with recording sessions
for Martin Darvill's new album.
Dave says, "...the new album is titled 'The Greatest Story Ever Told'
and is a sequel to the equally modestly titled 'The Greatest Show on
Earth' of seven years ago. The new album is again a 'concept' album of
Martins words and music, and unlike the first album which had all
guest musicians, this one has a basic nucleus of musicians in Dave
Kilminster (guitar), Andy Pyle (bass and production), Paul Ward
(keyboards), Moon on vocals and Dave Wagstaffe (drums). Dave, along
with others, is also providing backing vocals. Steve Christy has
already contributed a track and other guests due to put in an
appearance, some of whom were also on the first album, include Don
Airey, John Young, John Wetton, Colin Blunstone, John Lawton and more.
One musician from the last album who sadly won't be able to make this
recording is Noel Redding. The album should be out on Mystic Records
in the summer..."
The new solo album from Oliver Wakeman is titled 'Mother's Ruin' and
should be out soon though Oliver hasn't settled on the label yet. It's
a bunch of songs he has been honing over the last ten years and
features Moon on vocals (name sounds familiar...!) Dave Mark Pearce on
guitar, Tim Buchanon on bass and Dave Wagstaffe on drums, both of whom
were on Oliver's '3 Ages of Magic' album. 'Mother's Ruin' was recorded
at Thin Ice studios by Karl Groom, with production by Karl and Oliver.

5. KEITH GOODWIN
-----------------------------------------------
We received an email (below) forwarded by Jerry van Kooten (DPRP) in
Holland (the original email is from Nigel Camilleri) telling us of the
passing of publicist Keith Goodwin, whom many may remember and may
have known personally. Among many of the bands Keith worked with was
Quasar which included Landmarq members Tracy, Dave and Uwe plus
original keyboardist Steve Leigh.

Hi All,
For those of you into progressive rock (all I hope!) I feel that you
should know that one of the most important figureheads in the history
of progressive rock passed away last Sunday. I am talking about Keith
Goodwin, mastermind to bands such as Yes, ELP not to mention the
revival of prog-rock in the eighties with most notably bands such as
Twelfth Night, IQ,
Pendragon, Pallas and last but by no means least Marillion. Fish came
to Malta over the last week when he heard that Keith was very bad. A
memorial service will be [was] held on Friday (Jan 30th).
Please forward this news to any musicians whom you know had anything
to do with Keith in the past....If they want to send a particular
message to his family, they can forward it to me and I would gladly
pass the message on.
Regards
Nigel
