** RECAPS FROM FIRE EATER WIZARD **
On The Metallic Onslaught: When Jeffie arrived he was, well for the most
part, anyways, back to some semblance of what is, for him, sanity. Which is
to say not babbling and/or singing incoherent, nonsensical songs. However,
after a bit, he did start laughing again and telling Lance to stop tickling
him when no one was in fact touching him. He had brought back with him
something which we hadn't seen, and, more importantly, heard in a while.
That purple slide whistle. He said that he had something special for Joe.
Joe told him that he didn't want anything from him. Jeffie went into where
Joe was to give it to him anyways (that Phrase sounds "Dirty!", but does
not, fortunately for Joe, mean that!). :) Jeffie got right next to Joe and
blew (again, "dirty!") a long loud high pitched blast on the purple slide
whistle directly into his ear. And thus began a string of bizarre events
always set off by that whistle. at first it appeared that Joe had Become Joe
Jeff. He hugged Jeffie and seemed to be his friend again. But this lasted
only a minute, and then Joe attacked Jeffie and beat the crap out of him.
One of the weapons in this brawl was a plastic bag, which Joe did his level
best to suffocate Jeffie with by putting it over his head. When this was all
over, Joe seemed to have no memory of any of it, and asked why Jeffie was on
the floor. They filled him in and he still could not remember it, but said
that it was really cool that he had beaten Jeffie so severely. Jeffie
mumbled something about this experiment not working out too well. Later,
Jeffie blew that same long high pitched note on the whistle again, this time
near Rick... Rick yelled out "Lamb Of God!" a couple of times, and then took
off after Jeffie, apparently intent on killing him. Jeffie fled for his
life. Rick chased him out into the hallway and out of the building. Jeffie
did, just barely, manage to out run Rick, and come back in the back door,
locking Rick out. Jeffie then waited a few moments, and let Rick in. By
this time, Rick had no memory of how he had gotten outside and what had
transpired. Jeffie was quite distraught from coming so close to a brutal end
at the hands of Rick. Later, he said he needed to find out, once and for
all, if this experiment of his, was really a failure. You would think that
by then, he had enough data to tell him that it was, but this is Jeffie
we're talking about here. One severe beat down, and a near brush with a
brutal death just aren't enough for him apparently, he needs more. This time
he blew that long high pitched note into Lance's ear... Lance yelled out
"Lamb Of God!" a couple of times, and then proceeded to kick Jeffie's ass.
When this beat down was over, Lance had no memory of what had just occurred
and asked what Jeffie was doing on the floor. They told him that he had
Yelled out "Lamb Of God!", and then beaten the crap out of Jeffie. Lance was
puzzled as to why he would've yelled "Lamb Of God!", that's Rick's thing,
but thought that it was really cool that he had beaten Jeffie so severely.
Later Jeffie blew that note yet again (remember, it's Jeffie, it takes an
awful lot to get an idea through to him). This time Jeffie snapped. He once
again became a zombie, and an extremely aggressive, violent zombie at that,
Yelling out (well, take a guess what he was yelling. Yep, you guessed it!)
"Lamb Of God!", over and over again, and destroying the room. They told
Lance to run. When Jeffie came out of it, he did not remember any of this.
Joe told Jeffie to blow the whistle again. Jeffie did, weakly. Joe told him
no, do that weird high pitched thing again. Being dumb, Jeffie did just
that. And immediately was the Zombie again, shrieking "Lamb Of God!" over
and over and over again progressively more and more hysterically and
violently, and destroying everything within reach. Once again, I have never
heard one thing repeated so many times in my life. LAMB OF GOD! LAMB OF GOD!
LAMB OF GOD!!! LAAAAAMB OF GOOOOOD!!! LAAAMB OF GOOOOODDDDD!!! LAAAAAAAMB OF
GOOOOOOODDDDDDD!!!!! LAMB OF GOOOOOOOODDDDDD!!! LAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMBBBBB
OOOOOOFFFFFF GOOOOOODDDDDD!!!!! LLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMBBBBBBBB
OOOOOOOFFFFFFF GGGGGGGOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!! What?? Huh?? Where am I?
What happened??? Why is the room all torn apart?? And, why are the cats
cowering in terror under the bed, hissing and spitting??? Ah well, no
matter, I don't remember. And, it's not important anyways. Now, where was
I? Ah, yes! And so that was how the show ended, with the zombie Jeffie
screaming "Lamb Of God!", and destroying everything he could get his hands
on. That band really owes this show a lot! They should really do something
nice for them! When and where else have they ever gotten their name exposed
so much? Nowhere and never, I'm sure! Tune in this week to see if Jeffie is
back to his usual self again, and if so, if/or for how long that will last,
plus whatever else...
On The Last Exit For The Lost: The first hour of the show was prerecorded as
everyone was attending The Xtreme Soundscapes Showcase at Castaways. When
they returned, around 1:20, they brought with them the vocalist from one of
the bands who had just performed at that show. Mem, the vocalist for Sun
Descends. He gave a long interview, telling us about his band and his
thoughts on the music scene in the past and today. We also got to hear
several tracks from the bands CD played. They're cool, and I hope all of you
in the area attended the concert at Castaways. After Mem had gone, they
asked Just Joe how he was feeling, if he was over his insanity of the
previous week, blubbering about an awful sea monster in the basement? Just
Joe said that he was fine, absolutely fine, and that he was no longer afraid
of the basement, or any monster. They told him that, if that were really
true, then of course he would have no trouble proving it by going to the
basement... At first he seemed a bit reluctant to do this (they have locked
him in once he was there many times, after all). But, they assured him that
all would be well, and promised that no one would lock the door on him.
Being stupid, Just Joe decided to trust them. He went to the basement...
Now, unbeknownst to Just Joe, they had put a big cardboard cutout of an ugly
looking monster in the middle of the basement. They waited to see what his
reaction would be... After a bit, Just Joe emerged from the basement. At
first he seemed pretty much ok, and they congratulated him on overcoming his
totally unwarranted, irrational fear of the basement... But then Just Joe
started muttering about a monster in the basement. Feigning innocence, they
said "what monster??". "there is no monster." At the next talk break, Just
Joe had somehow acquired an axe, and declared that he was going to show that
monster and take care of it once and for all. And with that, axe in hand, he
went charging down to the basement. Then there was a terrific amount of
noise. A lot of crashing and banging, and yelling which went on for a long
time. They speculated that maybe Just Joe had impaled himself on the ax
(that would be a very Just Joe thing to do, after all). But then Just Joe
emerged from the basement saying that he had gotten rid of the monster. Oh,
and one other minor, insignificant item of note btw, (almost left this out,
it's so trivial), he was absolutely covered in blood... Just Joe was
bragging about how he had dispatched the monster. He was informed that there
had been no monster, that it had been a cardboard monster for a joke on him.
At first Just Joe would not accept this, but, as the truth slowly began to
sink in, he seemed to become worried for some strange reason, who knows why?
He posed the silly question that, if the monster had been cardboard, then
where did all the blood he was covered in come from? No one seemed to have
an answer for this. Just Joe started muttering some other nonsensical
things. Weird stuff like how maybe he shouldn't be there, and something
about the cops for some reason. Now why would he mention cops? Can you
figure that out? I sure can't. But then, who can ever figure out Just Joe,
he's so stupid, nothing he says ever makes sense! Azkath went down to the
basement to have a look. When he came back, he reported that, the cardboard
monster was gone, that there was a lot of blood... And nothing else...
Somehow, the conversation got around to the broken toilet, which had started
this whole sea monster business in the first place by flooding the basement.
Just Joe was told that it was still broken, and he said not any more, he had
fixed it, he had found something to drop down it that stopped up the leak.
He then mumbled something that sounded like "human body", but, why on earth
would he be saying something like that?? I must've misheard him, he was
mumbling and ranting, after all. I can't imagine what he seemed so upset and
worried about! Ah well, it's just Just Joe being Just Joe, I guess. He is
insane. The sanity test they gave him the week before concluded that he was
a maniac, after all, so there you go, and don't forget stupid. So who can
figure out what his weird ramblings might mean!? And that was LE for that
night. This week... The band Missing Marcus should hopefully be on. This
will be another band debut appearance on LE, as Sun Descends was this week,
as one of the important missions of the show is to introduce and expose us
all to new and independent music, and they accomplish that mission very
well. Tune in for that, and to see if Just Joe's sanity improves at all, or,
maybe, it will get even worse, who knows? And you never know what will
happen or who might show up... So tune in and find out...
************************************************************
Notes from Azkath...
Check out Missing Marcus on MySpace. They rock. They should be doing some
acoustic stuff in studio this week on The Last Exit. I am currently working
on finishing the Xtreme Soundscapes Vol 2 DVD, and that is about all the
news I have for now. The show on the 4th at Castaways will be huge and
insane, don't miss it. Get there early and we will give you a free DVD, and
some other neat stuff that you can take your pick from. First band starts
at 7pm, and the show will end around 1am, after which we will do the Last
Exit live (it will be prerecorded till then). Of course, the headliners will
be Punch Drunk Monkeys, so that is a rare appearance that you DO NOT want to
miss. We may have some of them in studio this week as well... We will
probably be giving away some tickets to the release show, as well as the
Post Release show on the 11th, and maybe some other stuff. We will see...

Darkest Hour - Run into Trouble with the Law (Twice!) - Stories Below...
posted on 05-19-2005 @ 6:08 PM by - siN
DARKEST HOUR got themselves into a spot of trouble with the law mid-photo
shoot, and mid-video shoot. Their two run-in's with the law in Washington
D.C. caused a terror scare, as the band were approached by four police
cruisers and eight officers. The officers thought that the photo shoot was a
well designed plot for six terrorists to start planning an attack, on
so-called ‘soft targets’ in the DC area and our rented van made them even
more paranoid. Remember that the next time you have a break-down and need to
rent a substitute vehicle, it’s a ‘suspicious move’! The band made it out
with out being arrested or fined and the photos will now serve as a backdrop
for the new record.
On the second run-in, DARKEST HOUR, whilst filming with king video director
Dale "Rage" Restighini had the police called due to intense "fire, dirt,
trash, and smoke" on the set of the shoot. set was the outside of an old
plastics factory in New Jersey where several tunnels converge. Fire, dirt,
trash, and smoke set the scene - it was chaos, of course. It got so intense
that some onlookers called the police. According to the officers they were
in "sheer terror and disbelief" at what was going on, but the police were
unable to shut down the shoot before the band could finish.

Opeth - Officially Sign To Roadrunner Records
posted on 05-20-2005 @ 1:12 PM by - slasher
MTV.com gives the following report:
"It's been more than two months since Mikael Åkerfeldt's progressive
death-metal outfit OPETH entered a Swedish studio for what will be the
highly technical band's eighth album. Two weeks ago, Åkerfeldt told Metal
File the record's nearing completion but that there were still several
critical details that needed sorting out — i.e. the album title, some lyrics
— and a record label to release the damn thing.
Before this week, Sweden's exalted sons were one of the world's most wanted
unsigned bands. But that all changed within the last couple of days, when
Opeth finalized a deal with New York's Roadrunner Records, bolstering an
imposing roster that already includes KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, CRADLE OF FILTH,
OBITUARY and SLIPKNOT.
Åkerfeldt, OPETH's haunting vocalist/ ambitious guitarist, disclosed several
details about the band's forthcoming, self-produced opus. The follow-up to
2003's acoustic masterpiece, Damnation, and OPETH's first disc in years
without producer Steve Wilson, the album will include "Ghost of Tradition,"
"The Baying of the Hounds" and "Isolation Years."
"Musically, Damnation was an experiment for us," Åkerfeldt said. "It also
helped us to develop our sound. So this time around, you can say the overall
record is going to be heavy-sounding. There's also a couple of songs that
are more in the style of Damnation, so to speak. We also have a new member
in the band, our keyboard player, Per Wiberg. So we have some vintage
keyboards this time around on the heavy material as well. Overall, this one
is heavy."
Åkerfeldt said OPETH will finish the record before month's end and expect to
release it as early as late August. He also said they'll play some new
material this summer as part of the inaugural Sounds of the Underground
tour.
"We've never done anything like [a festival tour] before, but this is a new
thing, so we're excited," he said. "It's a good chance to reach out to
people who've never heard from us. I'm also looking forward to seeing
STRAPPING YOUNG LAD and CLUTCH perform. Many of the bands on the tour I've
never heard of."
