It is with great saddness that I pass on the news that Sharon Schwade
from California passed away on the morning of November 27, 2007
around 5:30 AM. They believe she passed from a heart attack. Those
who knew her from listening to Aloha Joe Radio knew she LOVED HAWAII
and the music with a passion. Sharon was so looking forward to
meeting folks during the 2008 Hawaii Music Awards.
Sharon became a dear friend of mine while I lived in Charleston
thanks to the connection through Aloha Joe Radio and her being a
Danny fan. She LOVED seeing my newest photos, hearing what was
happening in Hawaii, what was new with Danny and other friends of
mine.
When I was traveling to the Hawaii Music Awards in 2006 and my
flight was cancelled due to weather I was stuck for the night in LA
with nothing but my camera gear, laptop and a few other items.
Sharon and her husband Irv got in the car and drove in LA traffic
late in the evening to come and meet me, bring me a X-large t-shirt
to sleep in, Danny Couch CDs to listen to and then took me to dinner.
Sharon lived with ALOHA in her heart. She loved Hawaii and her
friends. She was a TRUE Danny Couch fan too... I remember when she
paid MORE for the overnight shipping of Danny's Christmas CD that
came out DAYS before a craft fair she was a part of and she was in
charge of the music. She wanted people to hear Danny's voice. She
purchased tickets for her friends and their friends plus tickets for
me and my husband for last weeks Cocktail show. She was looking
forward to hearing how my meeting with her friends went at last
Wednesdays show and what her friends thought of the show. I tried to
call, but couldn't reach her. I had not know that on Thanksgiving she
fell and really injured her back, enough so to spend her last nights
in the hospital. I was told her attitude was she was NOT going to let
her injury stop her from enjoying Hawaii in March. She was ready to
come see and meet all of the Aloha Joe listeners who had planned to
attend the awards.
Some of you listen to Aloha Joe and will hear the news about Sharon.
Please keep Irv (her husband of +40 years) in your thoughts. Sharon
was the one I called when Danny (or others) were doing a call in to
Aloha Joe and she would get Irv to record the show for us. She never
thought she did anything to really help, but it's the small things
that do that do make the difference. Sharon DID make a difference.
She will be missed.
With a sadden heart,
Kathy
