Where has the year gone?  This year has just flown by!  It's been a hell of year with changes, strains and hardships for everyone. February 22nd, Earth Day, Lovehammers will be performing a 45 minute
accoustic set at Daley Plaza in Downtown Chicago between 1-2pm. 

Also, Lovehammers are planning a special dedication of their
song, "Trees". On Earth Day 2008, every time someone
downloads "Trees" by Lovehammers, 100% of the proceeds generated on
that day, and only on that day, are being donated to the Earth Day
Network. On April 22nd,Earth Day, make sure to visit Lovehammers.com

Happy New Year Hammerheads!

Are you all cracking away at your New Years resolutions?  Resisting that temptation for that box of donuts, sitting in the break room that some has cruelly left there to sabotage your efforts?  Contemplating whether to go to the gym or just veg on the couch with a bag of Dorito's to watch the same reruns you've seen over and over and over again.  If you are succeeding, CONGRATULATIONS!!!  If you have already failed miserably, grab a chair and come sit by me, we'll wallow in our self pity together with a bag of chips, a beer and I'll have a smoke.  I lost my list of resolutions, tried to write a new one, forgot half of them and already bailed on the few I remembered.  Maybe 2009 will be my year!  Now that the holidays have passed and we have a loooooooong way to go before the next holiday  to look forward to, let's take a look at some exciting things on the horizon to ease our pain of getting back to the daily grind.

Where will you be March 14^th?  In Chicago of course at the House of Blues!  Hammerfest 2008!!!  Ask for that vacation day NOW!!  More info will be available soon, stay tuned!

Okay, so we all clearly see why I never became a song writer and you definitely don't want to hear me sing it.  Definitely no plans to quit my day job anytime soon.  I just thought I'd share my holiday season cheer.  The cheer that quickly ends when you are pushed to the brink of insanity over shopping malls, lists for presents, Christmas lights blowing fuses and the lyrics of Feliz Navidad being recycled over and over in your head at night.  Then the inevitable questions that arise this time of year.  What will be my New Year's Resolution?  How many more of these cards do I have to write?!  Why is Snoopy a beagle, but he's only black and white, no brown?  What kind of bird is Woodstock anyway?  Why do I now see such prejudice in Rudolph the Reindeer as an adult and they still show this to kids?  Hmmmm...oh, I've gone off track a bit.  Sorry...

Umm...moving along...we've added some new items to the store!  So if you are looking for stocking stuffers, some last minute gift ideas, need to restock your Street Teaming supplies, or just want to buy yourself some great LH items because hey...who better to spoil a little this holiday season than yourself, then go check it out.  Now!

Now that we made it through the sugar high days of Halloween, let's all take a break to sit back, relax and catch up.  Oh no…more holidays are just around the corner?!  Gahhhh!!  When does the cooking end?!  When does the dishwashing end?!  How many shopping days until Christmas?!  Why won't these lights stop blinking?!   Ugh, who needs this stress?!  Well, we will try to make one thing easier for you.  Here are just a few things we have going on at the LH Store:

Shoeboxes @ Home

Earlier this year, the phenomenal fans of Marty Casey & Lovehammers contributed 974 shoeboxes for our men and women fighting overseas. These shoeboxes contained everything from toothpaste to beef jerkey, Q-tips to socks, and of course, a Marty Casey & Lovehammers CD in each one of these boxes. We are calling upon the fans again, to help contribute to another great cause. The campaign is a continuation of our previous one with the goal of helping the great men and women that put their lives on the line for us daily. Simply put, this is a campaign for our veterans here at home, hence the name Shoeboxes @ Home. We have all watched the evening news showing a heroes welcome when the soldiers return, but soon that attention passes. These soldiers come home to a place that they have been away from for months or years at a time. Even a healthy soldier can struggle with the transition of coming home to this great free country that is a stark contrast from the world they have been experiencing overseas. Acclimating themselves takes time and can be difficult. For the veterans that suffer from physical injuries, mental issues, or both, the reacclimation can be even more difficult.

• As of January of 2007, more than 1.6 million U.S. Servicemen and women have served in Afghanistan and Iraq. There are more than 26 million veterans in the United States.
• According to the USDVA, more than 200,000 veterans are homeless on any given night, and more than 500,000 will experience homelessness over the course of a year.
• More than 300,000 veterans diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder received treatment from a VA facility.
• Of the more than 250,000 Americans with spinal cord injuries, 42,000 are veterans.
• A recent study of inpatients at VA facilities indicates that nearly 85% have annual incomes of less than $15,000.
• The Miles Foundation reports that calls to their Domestic Violence Hotline for Military Spouses has increased from 50 to 500 per month since the start of the Iraq War.

Seeing those numbers makes it hard to turn a blind eye and ignore the NEED for us to take a part in helping our veterans. As before with our previous Shoebox of Love campaign, we have outlined a step by step process for you to follow. Please follow the steps and guidelines we have formatted. As always, we will be here to help assist and answer any questions that may arise. Please spread the word of this great new campaign and of course, help SPREAD THE LOVE!
