To my friends and the friends of my friends.
My name is Rosa and I hope
that you don't smoke but, if you do, I found a really
hot deal on this page www.allsmokers.com

Example:
I bought one marlboro carton (200 cigarettes) and I paid
32.73 eur; £ 20.97.
  It´s very interesting...

Hello Steve,

I'm from Germany. Our regional radio WDR2 quite often plays Lightning Seeds. In
my personal
observation often the first song after the news.

At 6:29 starts my radio alarm, 6:30 the news (you know earthquakes, BSE, and so
on). But at 6:33
it's "Sense". Oh Lucky Day!

Cheers,
Gerhard

Hey everyone, I just wanted to
say how much I love the
Lightning Seeds. It is very
difficult to be a fan here in
Australia beacuse of the total
lack of information on the band
and their complete lack of
exposure. I had to buy <Tilt>
over the net from the UK
because it was (and still is, I
think) unobtainable here. It is
just about impossible to find
their singles - which I treasure for
their different versions of tracks.
Their music is never played on
the radio - I've only ever heard
one song, <Why Why Why> and
that was 5 years ago on a hidden
away little station!
So all I can say is <Oh Lucky
You> for living in a country
where musical talent is
appreciated and celebrated.

btw are there any other
members here from Australia (I'm
in Melbourne)? Maybe you'd like
to email me?

Right, so there's been no talk on here for the last gawd knows how long. How
about starting a new thread regularly talking about a certain song. I'll pick
one this week, but if anyone wants to pick a song next week or whenever, just
bung it up here. What this is about is discussing the merits of the song, why
you like it, if it has special moments for you and stuff like that.

This week's new entry is: Change.

For me, why Change? It's one of the first tracks I heard by the Lightning
Seeds and loved it instantly. It's what got me into the Lightning Seeds in
the first place which is probably why i like it so much. It's always been my
favourite single and it's a brilliant track to drive to and the rhythm
guitars are just fantastic.

So, anyone else got any views on Change?

Hello everybody!

I'm new to the list. Could anyone help me with finding the song that's sampled
in Sweetest soul sensations

Hey everyone,

I read somewhere that the band has split up....Is that official ? Also,
too bad "Tilt" didn't get much attention.....I think "Cigarettes & Lies"
is a pure pop classic....

Just a note to any of you cd-r capable Seeds fans out there,

I am looking for all (yes all) of the B-sides that have been released by the Seeds over the course of their career...  I live in the States, and it is nearly impossible to find them here.  When you can, they cost a fortune.  They never seem to appear on Napster and no websites seem to have them, so I'm asking  anyone who has them to let me know.  My hope is that someone has created a collection of them all on one or two CD's.
Just so you know I'm not a pirate, just a fan.  I don't sell bootlegs or anything, but I have a lot of stuff to trade if you want to work out a deal.
I'd also be interested in any high quality Live material, or rare and/or unreleased tracks.

Please let me know if you can help, and thanks for your time

Eventually, tired of waitng for a local release, I got it over the net from
UK Music and Video Store. Arrived at my house within 6 days.

Hi.

I'd just like to say hello and introduce meself as the new owner of
this list. I'm gonna try and get this somehow connected with the
coollist so we can all get the mail.

Also, as Kamran mentioned before he handed me the keys, Mat Read is a
moderator of the group also. So if you have any trouble with it, you
can contact one of us.

Basically, I'm posting to see if I can start a new topic. I doubt
there'll be a new Seeds single, but I came up with an idea in the
Seeds official forum. I'll share it with you, and lets see if we can
get any more good ideas.

Here's what they should do.
In June, release this single with this tracklisting:

CD 1
1. City Bright Stars
2. Pussyfoot (Full length version)
3. New b-side

CD 2:
1. City Bright Stars (live)
2. Crowdpleaser (live)
3. Tales of the Riverbank (live)

Cassette:
1. City Bright Stars
2. B-side

then:-

re-release Tilt. Re-release the standard one, and release a limited
edition with a bonus live CD. Or a bonus enhanced CD with the videos
or interactive CD-ROM or something going through behind the scenes of
recording Tilt. (or both!) Put this in a special edition digipak or
something, and they'd be well away.

regards,
Paul

Hi all

here is the interview I said i'd post. you can also find it at
http://members.xoom.com/_XMCM/LSeed677/c4teletext.htm

Page 1:
Ian Broudie is a puzzled man. After what's appeared to be 20 years of easy
success from Echo and the Bunneymen producer to Lightning Seeds main-man,
has the magic touch deserted him?

"For the first time I can remember, Radio 1 hasn't got behind me", says Ian
of new single Sweetest Soul Sensations.

What's gone wrong? Is it the curse of Three Lions? Is pop to blame? And why
is Ian comparing himself to Liz Taylor? Join Ian as he tells us his
theories..

Page 2:
"I was gutted, couldn't believe it", says Ian Broudie of the No.28 chart
position of the Lightning Seeds last single Life's Too Short.

"Stupidly, it was important to me to get the single out before the end of
the millenium. Too many singles were out then - some other great singles
like Beck's flopped too.

"I felt it was my strongest single in ages. I think I've take our sound on a
bit".

Page 3:
Although success eluded Life's Too Short, Ian Broudie doesn't blame pop's
all-pervading influence.

"That'd be sour grapes", says Ian. "Pop is perfect if I'm in the right
mood - Will Smith on the Grammys was superb.

"Anyway, the charts have always been rubbish! People said punk reacted
against the charts, bit U didn't have a clue what was in the chartys then.
I'd hope there's young musicians out there with the same DIY attitude".

Page 4:
Although Ian Broudie feels the Lightning Seeds' sound has developed, doesn't
he feel the three year gap between Dizzy Heights and the new album Tilt is
too long?

"There was out greatest hits album in the middle", he reminds us. "We toured
a lot, so it wasn't as if I was lazing around or had writer's block.

"The only thing I'd change is I wish I'd put one or two more up-tempo tracks
on Tilt, it's maybe a little too downbeat on first listen."

Page 5: advert

Page 6
Surely the most surprising criticism for Ian Broudie came in a profile in
The Times when an anonymous ex-bandmate called him a dictator.

"That was deeply weird", Ian frowns. "There's only two ex-members of the
band. I'm on good terms with both of them, ands they phoned the day it came
out to say "It wasn't me".

"The story didn't bother me at all. I laughed my head off when I read my
nickname is apparently Liz Taylor!"

Page 7:
Although Ian Broudie continued to produce for other acts like Republica and
new band Fixed Stars, the Liverpool fan says he's now given up that job.

"Producing stopped being creative for me" says Ian, "It was too much hassle
having to be responsible for the band, their companies, their managers.

"If it was for an artist I totally admire, then maybe I'll go back to
producing. Otherwise forget it, I'm concentrating on the Lightning Seeds".

Page 8:

With England on their way to Euro 2000, does Ian have any plans to
re-release Three Lions? "Oh, please", is the not unexpected response.

"The only reason we brought it out for the World Cup 1998 was people were
writing in to newspapers - it was meant to have been a laugh, but it got out
of hand.

"It's not a millstone anymore. At gigs I feel I can play Three Lions if I
want or choose to ignore it - I'm no longer making an anti- Three Lions
stance".

Page 9:

Does Ian have any advice for whichever brave soul does make this years
England football theme?
"Not for the artist, no", Ian replies, "But I'd hope the FA choose the right
song this time. The official song last time was a mess. It had the
Bunneymen! And the Spice Girls! And Ocean Colour Scene! How was that mix
ever going to sound anything other than a sell out?
"Mind you, I'm thinking of writing a football song for World Cup 2002."

Paul

Hi

there's an interview with Ian Broudie on Channel 4 teletext, page 453.

For those who can't get teletext, or dont live in the UK, i'll transcribe it and put it up on my site, and send a copy to the list.

regards,
Paul

Well, as there's been quite a bit of discussion of the remix issue on this forum and my fan club, i've added a poll to my site. There's two questions, so if you'd like to take part, you know my name, look up the web address. Then head off to the "Online Poll" section
