As you may or may know, local San Diego radio station STAR100
(www.histar.com) is running a major campaign to get a local 15 year old
named Emily a recording contract with a major label. Check her out for
yourself and see what you think. Below you will find my thoughts on the
matter as sent to STAR. I know I am not the only one who thinks this way.
If you agree please send an email to them and say so. Just put the
subject as I Agree with Anita and add your thoughts or not. You can
address it to: tjohnson@...
I have issued STAR a challenge to play Lisa's music and give her the same
opportunity they are giving Emily.
Thanks for your help and power to the people.
Anita

I must admit I only visited your site on Emily out of curiosity. Right
now I'm pretty appalled at it all. If I see one more barely pubescent
blonde girl singing about "how her man done her wrong" etc I'm going to
be sick. With all the talent here in San Diego why all this attention on
some 15 year old who's average at best and has a lot to learn. Why can't
you do the public a favor and support local WOMEN like let's say,
brilliant singer/songwriter Lisa Sanders for one. There are many others
as well, Peggy Watson, Laura Preble, Mary Dolan, Peggy Lebo, Joy Eden
Harrison, Eve Selis, Deborah Liv Johnson, Candy Kane and the list goes
on. Women who have experienced life and who women like me can relate to.
This bubble gum cookie cutter music stuff has to stop. And those quasi
American Beauty poses, please give me a break.
Do something different from everybody else and show the music industry
that the public will embrace and support other artists who are over 30
and who have something wonderful to contribute and share with the world.
Be different and help break an artist with REAL talent who deserves it.
Take a risk and not go with what you THINK we all want to hear like music
with no substance.
Sincerely yours,
Anita York
