Program is intriquing. I use a Korg PA60 and also have a Yamaha PSR-
550 for the kids. Occasionally I convert styles I like from Yamaha
and Roland to the Korg.
I am interested in perhaps using Live-Styler to with a Yamaha Motif-
Rack and VST's. I have a Cakewalk instrument definition file for
the Motif Rack, which I use in Sonar. I have a few VSTs that I can
also use.
In the demo, don't really know if the Motif patches are working. I
can load the Cakewalk definition file (ins) and they appear on the
list. At one point an lid and an isf file where created but I can't
seem to change instruments in the instrument style editor.
I am using a GM multi on the Motif-Rack, but when I set the Output
Device Mode and the Midi Player Device mode to GM - it sticks on the
radio buttons but the sound changes and I have to recheck the
buttons, or reset the Motif-Rack in order to restore a semblance of
correct patches and drumkit/map. It seems that the drumkit gets
patched to a piano or such sound.
It's important to note that I am not using an Audigy card but
Creamware Scope cards. I assume that is why I get an error whr=en
the program starts regarding "no mixer found". In any case the
program functions well with the ASIO drivers for the card.
I know this implementation may be off the beaten track but I would
like to investigate utilizing VSTs and external synths to build a
really nice sound.
Any thoughts would be appreciated on the technical issues, if any.
I'm just not familiar enough with the operations at this point.
I am also thinking of utilizing Live-Styler to augment the PA60.
The MP3 and audio capabilities may be useful as well as switching
off between the two, or in combination of variants to add more
layers and colors to the arrangement. Not sure if that's easily
viable. Perhaps pair down some PSR styles that are limitied to
percussion, strings, horns and other arranged parts like guitar
riffs that would kick in when I want, on top of the PA60. I would
use the Motif, or a Triton Rack and/or VSTs controlled by the PA60
(via midi messages from the PA60 controls - if possible, or a
separate controller dedicated to Live-Styler.
I know thi sis a lot of stuff, but if any of you colleagues have any
thoughts, I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you.
