Hi all,
i try to use the H.C. software with live-styler 11 (demo)
the sound is very good, but i have a problem for thr solo selection.
The GM.isf file permit only 128 sound (GM); is pssible to create (or better,
exist) a file "GM2.isf" ??
The isf is better for the selection of sound with a touch screen, but a lid file
is also ok.
Ciao Marco
Hi All,
Has anybody experienced when pushing a key on external keyboard
LiveStyler receives random midi notes. For instance pressing a key on keyboard
Livestyler receives a midi message and releasing it, receives another different
message but if you press the exact same key it receives an entirely different
midi message and on repeating this the midi notes seem random. Close LiveStyler
and restart can fix this until it happens again for reason unknown.
I am using Casio PX-410R keyboard (USB connection) and LiveStyler nothing else
running.
Not the sort of thing you want to happen playing live!
Any input appreciated.
Thanks
Lionel.
Hey Mike,
ok!
here the simplest way.
First, bild a owen .lid file for vsthost prest-change- in LS
like:
1,0,0 Vsti Mix 1
2,0,0 Vsti Mix 2
3,0,0 Vsti Mix 3
and so one....
next, go to vsthost and make here youre several Preset
save as: maybe "1"; "2","3"......
next, in vsthost go to Devices; Midi; Remote
Remote:
Type: progam ; channel 1 or all others up to Ch.9
End:
Load in LS youre xx.Lid file in maybe R1 and use here the same midijoke string
as Style Midi & Drums.
Know you can change every Preset of Vsthost from R1 (LS) and save it
in LS Prest (Songbook)
Good luck

Thankyou very much for your advice, I got VST host, but I'm having dificulty saving presets in LS, or lets say I can't get LS to open the correct perf in vst host.
Maybe I should do it the other way, sending messages for vst host to live styler, to select different presets?

Hy Mike, you have to use a secound vsthost to LS.
First, rout all style-channels (10-16) of LS with Midiyoke to an other Host.
- Seib VSTHOST is a good one freeware alternatve-
Here, you must split the Channels to youre seperat vsti´s.
This kind of Instruments now save as an Perset in these Host.
At least you load a style in LS und saved the secound hostpreset in Solopreset of LS.
End: Make from all of as a LS-Preset (Songbook)
Know, when you change the LS-Preset, all the vsti´s will be changed too with each style.

With midiyoke it's easy:1) I first open Cubase then Live Styler.
2) Drum and accomp part will have midiyoke out 2, while cubase
midiyoke in 2( tracks), but you will have to filter the channels in
cubase
with the logical editor.
3) At this point you can load anything into cubase and have it play
the Live Styler channels
you will have set and filtered before.
4) Finally midiyoke 1 may be used as input for a keyboard on Live
Styler.
PS. Don't forget to record enable the tracks in cubase, otherwise they won't play.
Conclusion: I'm not too fond of this set up .I've still got to figure out how to automatically
load different VSTi.

Hi, I purchased Live styler a week ago.... really like it, but still have to get around it, guess I'm in a bit of a hurry to use it.
The problem is that I like constructing my own styles and I think that Style maker could do the trick.
What I wanted to know was... could I load say... Bandstand from NI onto R1, Trillogy onto R2 or other, Realstrat guitar on R3 or other and have them all respond to various parts of the accomp?

Where can I send you a style that I use and proteusvx
(http://www.emu.com/promo/proteusvx/welcome.asp)(free emu sampler)
That way you can try it and see what I am talking about.
I do use Asio4all.
Problem is the GM and XG bank I think.
I use styles from Agaton (YUMIDI.COM) which are done very professionally. So I
am sure it is not the styles.
For the sounds to be right you MUST use a Yamaha XG compatibe sound device (Like a QY100) A GM sound set will not cut it for the drums & accomanyment sounds

Hi all,
I bought the Live Styler Plus version and are happy with it. There are so many
options to play with! I am using the live styler together with a Wersi organ and
a Ketron SD2 module.
There are some part which I am struggling with:
* After loading a new style, then the assignment for R1..R8 is gone. It goes
back to the grandpiano setting. Is there a way to freeze this setting so that it
doesn't default after loading a new style? (Ofcourse, I should also work with
presets; this is my next 'chapter to discover'. If that is the solution, then it
is clear. Per default I would expect that the assignment wouldn't change if the
style doesn't indicate preferred instruments.)
* If I am reselecting R1..R8 solo voices, which are set to Ketron SD2, then the
assignment goes sometimes to the wrong channel. E.g. by pressing the R3 solo
button, then often the assignment is not going to R3 but to R2! I don't know why
there is a mismatch.
* (I think this is a SD2 problem...) In a lot of styles, the melody track is not
sounding good at the SD2. I have selected GM mode for the SD2. I have even
updated the SD2 firmware. It seems that there is often something in the melody
which doesn't play well on a SD2. If I change the melody to another sound
source, then it sounds ok.
Greetings, Henry.
Thanks, Pedro & Norbert.
I will have to look more into it. I have read somewhere on the net that it is
possible to the same extension names to two different applications.

Pedro, Norbert,
Thanks for your information on ASIO4ALL. I didn't knew that it was in particular
useful for VST's. I do have some of them (e.g. the yamaha XG), so it might be
helpful there.
Yesterday evening I did some more experiments and reconfiguration of LS. The
latency is now that low that it is playable now. I bid on the SD2 and hopefully
will hear today if that will succeed.
Greetings, Henry.
I don't think that is really possible, but if you do not find a solution somewhere else, you can always add a custom operation to the file when you right-click it in the browser.
You can do this by opening Windows Explorer, menu Tools-->Folder Options-->File Types-->(click on the STY file type)-->Advanced-->New
Then add a new Action, by entering name like "Open in Live Styler" and the path to the LS executable.
After this, every time you right-click on STY file you will have the option to "Open in Live Styler".
Both LS .sty file extension and a Band in a Box file format with the same extension .sty are associated with BIAB in my computer. How do I assign these files to two different programs?
ASIO4ALL is an audio driver, and as such it only reduces latency if you are producing audio from your PC, for instance if you are using a software synth.
I believe this is not your case, as you are routing the livestyler MIDI output back to your keyboard, so no audio is produced by the laptop.
Nevertheless, if it were the case, ASIO4ALL actually helps reducing latency: you just install it and change the output audio device of the software synth to the ASIO driver.
Subject: [LiveStyler] Livestyler: latency decrease by ASIO4ALL?
Hi all,
- - - being new here, let me introduce myself - - -
I am just experimenting with live styler for my hobby of playing the organ/keyboard at amateur level. My compliments already to Norbert for this wonderful tool! I certainly consider buying it. Background: I want to 'upgrade' my old Wersi Performer keyboard/organ, but the available styles etc. are still priced in the old glory days of organs. I am bidding on a Ketron SD2 expander to get voice quality improvements.
In the experiments, I encountered a big latency, which makes live playing not possible. The problem could be tracked back to the midi interface: it is a M4U midi interface. I installed the latests drivers and now the latency has been greatly reduced. But there is still some of it. Marginal, but sometimes annoying.
My question here is: would it help further if I would install ASIO4ALL? I don't fully understand what that program exactly does, but I see several notes about it in these kind of forums.
My gear setup now: wersi performer --midi--> M4U --usb--> laptop --usb--> M4U --midi--> wersi performer. The laptop is an oldie: AMD Athlon 1.9GHz, running XP. In the process of acquiring a SD2 to do the sound generation. (And alternatively, also a Walther midi accordeon and a Digital Classic Piano as input tools.)
