I need something that will follow me as I make chord changes on the master
controller. Will LS do that? if not, any suggestions for backing tracks?
thanks! Adrian

Hello every enthusiastic user of Live Styler!!!
I would like to know, how can I make channel 2 to trigger the chord recognition
area of LS?
I understand that R1-R8 are Right hand melodies that send on channels 1-8 to a
sound module.
Can I have one channel trigger chords and melodies at the same time?
Thanks in advance.
Also, how can I make the live styler stop the accompaniment (except drums) when
i don't play notes in the chord recognition area, and then start again when i
play notes in the chord recognition area. I am not referring to "sync off" which
stops everything including drums and restarts the pattern (style) from the first
measure when re-triggering.

Hello,

To trigger chords via channel 2 go to Midi IO, Look for Accomp Melody, and where it says Bass and Melody you can set Input Channel and Input Midi Port (the ports are on the top right of that page, where it says MidiIn 1..4, and are your midi input devices). In Accomp Split you can set the range of notes that trigger chords.

Best regards,
Pedro

Thank you, that's great info, and I did figure it out in the mean time.
How about the "sync off" part?
That doesn't seem to be possible, hence making this software useless, or no more useful than any other arranger keyboard on the market such as PSR keyboards.
I do appreciate your help though.
Sorry to sound a little stressed, but it's just that I've been wasting my entire last week trying to figure out this software and it really doesn't work at all.
Thank you,

Is it possible to assign Midi control messages to buttons and faders?

For example I am using a korg Nanopad and NanoKontrol so would like to control
R1- R8 with the Kontrol faders and assign, fills, syn start etc to the pads on
the Nanopad

Thanks in advance for help advice.

Hi there,

Go to Setup->Settings 1->Keycontrol click an item in the list and than move the knob to send the midi signal... or eneter it by hand if you know the hexa code.

The sync off part I don't know, maybe that could be a sugestion for the software developer, which could be included in a future update. That's the advantage of software... :-)

Well the software developer says it's doable, and convinced me to purchase the software.  Now I did, and I can't install it.  Files are corrupt.
After he will help me figure out why I can't install, and have this error fixed I will take a look to see how this function works, and then I will let everyone know how this is done.
Till then, wish me luck.  I've been struggling with this way too long.

Yes, when the controller is a MIDI Keyboard that is sending on CH1, you simply
have to split the keyboard within Lifestyler, so that the left side plays the
styles and the right side the melody.

> Also, how can I make the live styler stop the accompaniment (except drums)

That is not possible like that as far as I can see. You will have to push the
Accomp Button, which stops the accompainment and lets the drums continue. You
can also assign this button to a key on your keyboard or MIDI controller.

Yes my friend, but you know what happens next?  The right hand instruments are constantly interrupting the accompaniment, even if the MIDI thru function is activated.
I spent a lot of time and bought the full version, but I will not get this to work.

nothing works on this software.
Honestly I wish I could get a refund.
But we already paid for it, so I guess that's that.
When I set the split point, then only the accompaniment works, and the melody part stops working.
The notes get cut off.  It's a whole mess.
I played with those settings forever and I'm very disappointed in the fact that I purchased this product.
I wish things would work as described, and I wish the program would not have to be restarted after every setting I make.  This makes my workflow completely interrupted, and I think I started and restarted the program more than 97 times in less than an hour, with no success at all.

Hi,
I understand your frustration even though I have not looked in detail at your

steep learning curve . Eventually though it did everything that I had hoped it
would do.
A big problem that I had was that I was using a cheap midi interface. When I

This has nothing to do with latency, nor midi interface.  The problem is just simply this poorly made software that only works if your needs are low, and you're satisfied with a basic arranger, and are willing to give accept its faults so that you can use whatever it can give.
I read the manual, which is improperly translated, and I'm sorry I wasted my time with that too, cause it didn't help at all.  I guess my needs are way more complex than what this software can do, and I couldn't use something that's basically a cheap $100 vintage PSR Yamaha like the live-styler software, which also requires a computer.
At least with the Yamaha I can just plug it in and play (if my needs are that low).
My computer is super fast, and my interface has absolutely no latency when used with any other professionally made software such as Logic, Ableton, Sonar, Cubase, and even One Man Band.
Thanks for everyone's efforts to try to help, but I simply give up and basically accept the idea that I threw $50 down the toilet.
Thank God I didn't also buy those styles as well, because if I did, I would have thrown another $150.

Hi there,
maybe you could post about what equipment you are using?
What keyboard do you use to trigger LS? How did you connect it to the computer?
Did you set up LS to run with the inbuild soundengine (SF2Player) or are you
using VSTIs?

If you are just looking for a style player, you may also just try to download
the LiveStyler Lite, which is free and is basically just a style player.

Most problems with "No sound" from LS are caused by the ASIO Driver, which can
handle only one sound software at a time. So if you are trying to maybe run
another VSTI host and LS with ASIO and VSTIs at the same time, that does not
work.

Hi there,
I am using a professional sound module which is capable of playing 16 parts.  It is a Yamaha Motif XS Rack.  It works perfectly with any other software.  As I mentioned before, the problem is not my driver, it is just the Live Styler software.
In terms of MIDI controller.... I'm using a professional MIDI accordion capable of sending 16 parts with absolutely no latency.  IT works perfectly with any other system except Live Styler.
My computer system runs on Windows XP with a processor of 2.4 Ghz, and 4GB of RAM.  It has a professional sound card installed which also gives absolutely no latency when used with any other professionally made software.
I repeat 10,000 times... My equipment is not the problem.  The problem is the poorly made, unresponsive Live Styler 12 software which for some reason works worse than a toy.
Thanks for everyone's efforts to help with advice, but I honestly gave up already and realize (FULLY) that I have thrown $50 away.  I know that $50 is not expensive, but I'm more sorry for having spent so much time reading the manual, posting on forums, and trying to adjust its settings which require me to restart the software after every changed setting (also poorly made).
I'm done with this.

Most problems with "No sound" from LS are caused by the ASIO Driver, which can handle only one sound software at a time. So if you are trying to maybe run another VSTI host and LS with ASIO and VSTIs at the same time, that does not work.

The sfotware is not really that bad. It is ok for home use and for fun. I wouldn't recommnend it for live playing in front of audience cause many functionalities keep failing. My biggest problem was chord regognition that kept going crazy, and other things that worked for a while and than they stoped working. As i sais Adrian this is not a profesional solution. I recommend a cheap hardware arranger and a midi cable.

I got myself a roland va7 with 400usd and my life got much easyer, for live playing that is. For home use livestyler is ok

Hi there,
I am using a professional sound module which is capable of playing 16 parts.

Hi there,
maybe you could post about what equipment you are using?
What keyboard do you use to trigger LS? How did you connect it to the computer?

definitely not for live use, in which case the name seems to be misleading (LiveStyler instead of HomeStyler).
I'm sorry but I couldn't settle with a VA-7 either.
To better explain so that you can understand... think of a Korg PA 1X Pro, or even Korg PA 2x pro.  Not even those Korg professional arrangers don't do the job, so how could a VA-7 be good enough?
Perhaps my requirements are too extreme for today's available equipments.
I even had a Korg M-3, but the inability to create your own arpeggios (unless using the overly complicated Karma software) makes it useless as well.

I have just found the live styler and want to make it sound as professionally
sounding as possible without spending much money!

I would like to sound like the tyros 3 o r tyros 4 - my question is what is the

You will not be very successful in the Live-Styler sounding like a
T3/T4. No vSTis have mega voices or sound that goos as compared to
tt\Tyros.
There is a XG softsunth you can use but the sounds id jusy OK.
As to the solo RH voices, you can sound as good as yyou want based on
cost of the vSTi.
But you still will not have the SA & SA2 voices from TYyros3/4

Hi Sorry but i am very new to this,

I want to create the best sounding keyboard possible but do not have the budget
to pay for a top of the range arranger keyboard.

I have sampletank 2 and Halion VST, can i set these up with Live styler to
achieve good results or are they just used for R1-R8 voices?

I intend to buy the HD for mega samples once i have the funds :)

All the best Paul

What Vst do you use?

The easiest VST to set up for styles is the Yamaha SYXG50. It doesn't
sound stellar, but it's good enough for everyday use (if you don't
already have a better sounding arranger keyboard, that is).

If you're going to use *anything* else, you're going to have to edit
or create your own styles (as opposed to just downloading Yamaha
styles). This is much more time consuming. It'll sound better (if
you know what you're doing), but I find it is too much trouble just
for home use.

Hi,

The Sounds of the mp3 demos of the Mega sample demos sound great but there is
not many demos of modern pop /dance songs with these samples.

Are there any ?

I teach keyboard to young students who enjoy the latest Lady Gaga, Katy Perry,
Rihana etc?

Do you have any ?

Thanks

Paul
