The only thing missing is the convenience of having emails stored on
my computer, in case I want to search for a tip I thought I read once
about, say, a Trigger Finger.

I can live without that, because I prefer the forum for this kind of
group, for one important reason:

This group discusses a lot of different types of gear, and I see tons
of messages about stuff I don't have, and can't help with. At a
forum, I can more easily ignore all that stuff. I wish there were a
forum for each product type (a Trigger Finger forum, for example),
because I have nothing to offer Axiom users, to give one example.

I welcome the change.

I'm in another group that's trying to negotiate a move to a forum,
and a lot of us there, me included, don't prefer the forum because
that group exists to discuss one piece of gear -- so most of the
emails really mean something to me. Here, it's different. We have
many more members, and we talk about a lot of very different gear.
The only thing they have in common is Enigma software, but we often
talk about things that aren't Enigma-related at all. That's not a bad
thing... but it's easier to handle in a forum, where you can skip
over the stuff that doesn't matter to you.
