Guitarist Mick Box of legendary progressive rock veterans URIAH HEEP has issued the following update from the road:
"Well, we have played four shows now and the set list is really beginning to bed in now. You probably know by now we are not playing it safe and we are performing the whole of the 'Wake The Sleeper' CD plus some of the classic HEEP songs. This is a very brave move but we had to give it a go as we had been playing the last set for quite some time. It was time to stand up and be counted.
"The set has been very well received so far and the response each night has been wonderful, very warm and very heartfelt. I am sure the people who come to the show can see the effort we have made to get this set of songs as powerful as we can and with a nice balance between the old and new songs. We have even introduced the original intro to 'Gypsy' which is going down a storm each night and sounds super powerful.
"We have been getting on very well with THIN LIZZY and these German shows are a rock night extravaganza for the fans and one they will never forget. Although we have only been on the road for nearly a week, the dreaded cold germs have began to surface. First to be hit is Phil and Christos and we can only hope it does not get passed on to everyone. The set is very demanding and very rewarding at the same time. I will be interested to read the reviews as they surface. They certainly cannot deny the fact that we have been brave and not taken the easy option as some bands do and just play a couple of new songs amongst the hits and the classics. The backdrop when we can get the whole thing up looks tremendous and helps give a freshness to how the stage looks and having merchandising is a real plus too. We even have a programme which we have not had for at least 20 years.
"This is a very exciting phase of our career and there is a genuine buzz and excitement surrounding us at the moment which is very uplifting. We look forward to seeing you all out on the road and a big thanks to all of you that have bought 'Wake The Sleeper' and merchandising so far as we do appreciate your support.
URIAH HEEP released its first studio album in almost ten years, "Wake The Sleeper", in the U.S. on August 26 via Noise/Sanctuary Records.
Recorded in 2007, "Wake The Sleeper" was produced by Mike Paxman (STATUS QUO, JUDIE TZUKE).
URIAH HEEP's progressive heavy metal made the British band one of the most popular hard rock groups of the early '70s. Formed by guitarist Mick Box and vocalist David Byron in the late '60s, URIAH HEEP released their debut album "Very 'eavy... Very 'umble" in 1970. Since then the band has released 20 studio albums and played to millions of fans across the globe. URIAH HEEP remain one of British rock's most consistent and long-standing acts with album sales of over 30 million worldwide. "Wake The Sleeper" is URIAH HEEP's 21st studio album.
MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx recently spoke to The Electric New Paper about the band's first-ever concert in Southeast Asia after 27 years together.
Sixx said: 'I'm so excited... I'm dying to play for the fans there. We never came to Southeast Asia because we weren't paid enough to break even. We don't care about making money, we just don't want to be losing money. So we've scaled things back... but it's still the same raw, dirty rock 'n' roll — no holds barred."
And unlike guitarist Mick Mars, who thought Singapore is in China, Sixx assured The Electric New Paper that he has done his homework.
"Thank God for the Internet!" he said. "Every time we go to new cities or countries, I read about them online because I want to know more about the people I'm about to meet. I was surprised to hear the crowds there are crazy, so we're going to bring our A-game."
Though all of them have survived their colorful past filled with long addictions and brushes with the law, it doesn't mean they've mellowed to the point of blandness.
Sixx said: 'That was a time when we didn't think about survival. But now that I'm on the other side, I look back and go 'wow.' I mean, we're still crazy. We still have very different personality disorders that come together to make a great rock band."
MÖTLEY CRÜE will return to Sunset Blvd., the place where it all began 27 years ago, for a show at the newly renovated Hollywood Palladium on Friday, November 14. Tickets for the show go on sale Saturday, October 18 at 12 noon on www.livenation.com. The band joins JAY-Z, GYM CLASS HEROES, THE ROOTS, JONAS BROTHERS, RISE AGAINST, MUDVAYNE, ONEREPUBLIC, BACKSTREET BOYS and others still to be announced at the reopening of the legendary venue. MÖTLEY CRÜE thundered through amphitheaters on this summer's Crüe Fest and will bring all the grit and grime of their legendary rock shows indoors for the special one-off performance.
CRÜE's classic album "Dr. Feelgood" is now available in its entirety for Rock Band. The album is available now for Xbox 360, and October 16 for PS3. The complete download includes ten songs and will be available for $15.99 (1280 Microsoft Points) or $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) per track.
Originally released on September 1, 1989, the CD, along with all of the band's studio albums, has just been re-released by Motley Records/Eleven Seven Music. "Dr. Feelgood" was recorded by all four original band members and is the band's highest-charting CD to date. It was the first album the band recorded after their quest for sobriety and rehabilitation in 1989 and the band has stated in various interviews that they view it as their most musically solid album due in no small part to their new sobriety. To date, "Dr. Feelgood" has sold more than 6 million copies in the U.S. alone.
