This class is for musicians of all levels who want to play traditional and
classical
Arabic music. With an emphasis on music making, studies will also include ear
training, analysis of taqasim (improvisations) and compositions from a
repertoire of
traditional, popular and folk music. Good reading ability is desirable, ability
to play
your instrument is required.
14 week session begins September 28, 2004

Experience the music of the world without leaving the Twin Cities! In this
introductory survey of World Music you will listen to and study music from 6
different
world regions ( including the Near East) and discover the instruments that give
each
type of music its own unique timbre and style.
