The Indian Music Society of Minnesota (IMSOM) is proud to announce the next

one of India's most celebrated young artists, T.M. Krishna! This 29 year old
maestro has been internationally hailed as one of the youngest and brightest
stars of Carnatic music. Joining him in his 2005 US Tour is an ensemble of

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
T. M. Krishna is one of the leading artists in the field of carnatic music
today. He has been performing since the age of 12. Today he is the youngest
singer to occupy the top slot in almost every major music festival. He is a
student of Sri B. Seetharama Sarma and the legendary musician, the late
Semmangudi R. Srinivasa Iyer. He has been on tours to South Africa, North
America, South East Asia, Australia and the Middle East numerous times. He has
received numerous awards and titles from many leading organizations. To name a
few: Musician of the year - Narada Gana Sabha - 1995, Title `yuva Kala
Bharathi'- Bharath Kalachar - 1997, Kalki Krishnamurthy Award - 2001, Title Isai
Peroli - Karthik Fine Arts - 2002, Best senior concert in the conference - Music
Academy
in 2002 and 2003, Title Sangeetha Siromani - Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha
Bombay - 2004. He has released many music albums from leading audio companies
like Magna sound, H.M.V., Inreco, Amudham (U.S.A.), Charsur and Rajalakshmi
Audio.
R. K. Shriramkumar is a top ranking Violin artist from India. He belongs to the
Rudrapatnam family of musicians; a family with a glorious musical tradition. He
is the grandson of the renowned violinist Sangeetha Kalaratna R. K. Venkatarama
Shastry. After initial training on the violin from Smt. Savitri Satyamurthy, he
recieved advanced training from his grandfather. He has performed all over the
world. He has had the privilege of accompanying some of the legends of Carnatic
music like Semmangudi R. Srinivasa Iyer, M. S. Subbulakshmi, D. K. Pattammal and
Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. He has received the title of Yuva Kala Bharathi from
Bharat Kalachar and the Kalki Krishnamurthy Memorial award.
K. Arun Prakash is a dynamic young Mridangist who hails from a musical family.
He is the son of Shri L. Krishnan, a composer. He started learning Mridangam
from the age of nine under the late Sri Ramanathapuram M. N. Kandaswamy (a
disciple of Palani Subramania Pillai). Arun Prakash has performed in all leading
music Sabhas and over the years has accompanied famed artists like D. K.
Pattammal, K. V. Narayanaswamy, D. K. Jayaraman, T. N. Seshagopalan and U.
Srinivas. Arun Prakash has won many awards for his Mridangam playing and has
performed in USA, Canada, Middle East and U. K.
B. S. Purushothaman is today the most sought after Kanjira artist in India. He
is a student of Late Sri Bangalore M. L. Veerabhadraiah, Sri V. Praveen and
Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri T. K. Murthy. He has accompanied such great musicians as
Sri K. V. Narayanaswamy, Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, Sri Lalgudi G. Jayaraman, Sri
T. N. Krishnan and many others. He has traveled all over the world performing at
many major music festivals including the Adelaide World Music Festival, World
Drummers Meet Stockholm and the Hanover World Expo 2000.
