Cassandra and special Twin Cities guest soloists will perform classical Danse
Orientale with the Twin Cities' Arabic orchestra, Mozayik.This classical dance
form is
a unique improvisational interaction between the soloist and the musicians that
will
bring the music to life for the audience. The evening will conclude with open
dancing
for YOU – the inspired audience members! Debke with the local Lebanese dancers!

The Festival of Oriental Dance brings to the Twin Cities some of the worlds most
respected and inspiring artists working in Middle Eastern dance forms today. The
week-long event will feature classes, performances, and lectures emphasizing the
diversity of Middle Eastern dance styles — from the folk (Raqs Shaabi) to the
classical
(Raqs Sharqi), to contemporary works of exploration and fusion. Performances at
the
Southern Theater Thursday through Sunday will feature a completely different
performances each night performed by national and Canadian guest
artists,CassandraShore, and Jawaahir Dance Company, as well as some of the best
regional artists including Judith Ingber (MN),Ammala Dance Ensemble (MN), Heidi
Todd (CO), Ruby Jazayer (IN), Shadia Dallal (OK).

 



Tarab,Arabic for "enchantment," is the mystical state
when musicians, dancers, and audience together experience ecstasy!
