ABOUT THE CONCERT:
Grammy award winner, India's foremost cultural ambassador to the world and one
of India's all-time favorite musicians, Tabla wizard Ustad Zakir Hussain, will
lead an exciting ensemble of 11 world-class percussionists, musicians and
dancers in this extraordinary performance of Indian classical and folk music
selections.
Don't miss this chance to experience Indian melodic (Raga) and rhythmic (Tala)
improvisations, folk and classical percussion styles, and the dazzling acrobatic
dancing drummers of Manipur. A must-see for all percussionists, dancers and
world music fans!
The Masters of Percussion ensemble comprises:
Ustad Zakir Hussain (Tabla, percussion)
Fazal Qureshi (Tabla, percussion)
Bhavani Shankar (Pakhawaj, Dholak)
Taufiq Qureshi (Drums, percussion, Djembe) Khete Khan (Khartal (folk
instrument from Rajasthan))
Manipuri Jagoi Marup (an ensemble of four acrobatic dancing drummers)
with special guests:
Niladri Kumar (Sitar)
Ustad Sultan Khan (Sarangi)
