Iran's House of Art
(registered student organization of University of Minnesota) presents:
Iran. The name has a full set of suggestions within our society today.
It has become inevitable to associate the country with the discords of
today's world, yet there are many other stories to be said including
life, literature, music, and art. Let Iran's House of Art tell these
stories in hopes of providing a more realistic image to serve as a
bridge uniting people. As our first movement, Iran's House of Art
presents;
Merge: a series of enlightening events
with the support of the University of Minnesota , Twin Cities.

Merge: Harmony of Mystic Words
By Sina Goudarzi & Amirhossein Kiani
This event is uniting the art of Persian written words and the live
sound of Persian classical music. Selected calligraphy works by Master
Sina Goudarzi shall be exhibited, accompanied by live Tar performance
by Amirhossein Kiani.

Sina Goudarzi
A native of Iran, Sina has been involved with the art of Persian
calligraphy for the past 30 years. He has been trained by different
Grand masters of "Iranian School of Calligraphy" such as, Mr.
Amirkhani and Mr.Arabshahi, where he also received his calligraphy
diploma, and later became an official instructor, teaching in Tehran,
Iran . He also studied with Grand Master M. Ehasie for a number of
years and learnt different schools of calligraphy. He has been greatly
influenced by this Grand master. He has been active in different
calligraphy exhibitions in Houston, Minneapolis, Washington DC, and
Tehran for the past 19 years. He also lectured in the subject of
Persian calligraphy in Houston TX, Minneapolis MN, Washington DC, and
Tehran. He has also lectured for the "International Conference of
Calligraphy in the World of Islam" with the subject of
"Visual Foundation of Nastaliq in Architecture" October 2002, Tehran.
Most recently, he had an illustrated lecture in the subject of
"History of Persian Calligraphy" at the Fisher gallery, Washington DC.
He has collected works in private collections in Tehran, Amsterdam,
Houston, New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Los Angles, and
Minneapolis. Sina is an Alumni member of Minneapolis College
of Art+Design (MCAD), class of 1998, and the founder of Geesu
Art+Design, 2002. He currently works as an Art Director in Twin Cities.
Amirhossein Kiani
A native of Iran, Amirhossein was born in the city of Esfahan in 1988.
He discovered strong ties to Persian classical music at the very early
ages.He started playing Tar (a Persian classical string instrument)
when he was thirteen years old. He has also studied the Vocal Persian
Repertoire (Radif) under the supervision of Masters Manuchehr Ruhani
and Shahriar Baluchestani. He is mostly a self-taught in Tar
performance, and is currently working on the execution of contemporary
methods to combine Tar, Daf, and vocals. Amirhossein moved to
Minneapolis in 2005 and is currently pursuing a degree in Electrical
Engineering at the University of Minnesota,Twin Cites.
