Hi to all subscribers to this yahoogroup, I hope to gain some useful
information from it. Beethoven and Handel are my 'first loves'. Authentic
instruments a must!

---This group used to be very busy, and we had amazingly knowledgeable
members here. Perhaps we still do, but it's been virtually dead for ages. A
pity. I well remember all the fun fights we had here in the past!

I sort of grew up with Beethoven, so he was my first great musical hero.

As for authentic instruments, that might just be the key phrase to start
everyone here fighting again. ;-)
I rather like 'authentic' performances. They often give one a very new view
on even the most well-known pieces, and one wonders what Handel and
Beethoven might have made of more 'modern' performances. Personally, my
tastes are eclectic; I like modern and 'authentic' performances about
equally well, as long as they are well done.

Hi Brian, Well of course period instruments on their own do not guarantee a great performance, but the only recordings of Beethoven and Handel I consider these...
