Im back in the studio after taking a small break. I went back in LA for a
few days to take part in a really great benefit for breast cancer. A bunch
of killer women have helped create t-shirts with their favorite designers
(yes, I
did mine thru Mblem) and are selling them with all of the proceeds
going to
breast cancer research. I was really happy to be a part of it and I urge
you all to check them out. www.fredsegalfun.com
There are some really great ideas that came
about.
This whole process of recording is just amazing. I have never really
been
in the studio 24/7 to watch and be a part of a producer and band figuring
things out, trying the unknown and then just finding a groove-- it's
beyond exciting. For the first time, I really feel like I am coming into my
own in the studio. I guess ALL GOOD THINGS come in due time. We
are about
15 songs into recording just the basic tracks. From there, we will begin
overdubs, vocals and have visits here by some of my favorite people in
the
whole world....Lori McKenna, The Weepies and a few others. It's really
like camp up here and just so good to be away and focused on nothing
but
this album.
We're starting to document some stuff so look out for some pics and
maybe
even some small little video clips we're gonna post. I'm told its all about
content these days. Is it? Its' been so long since Ive done the record
thing and I am realizing just how different the business is. I guess the
reason for me putting out this record as a partner with my record
company
and not leaving it in the hands of a larger corporate "thing" who has 183
other acts to deal with at the same time.
Ok, enough music talk.
I just learned that my film, "Dedication" is going to
Sundance. I can't wait to get out there in January. I'm super proud of the
and I could go on and on about how much I adore Justin Theroux and
Billy Crudup but I think I've done that in the past. Either way, it should
be a great time. We had
a blast when the cast of "Saved" went out there a couple years ago.
I'm hoping to leak a few things here and there from this record
soon...because I CAN...no record company to hold that back from you!
Gotta go cut some more vocals. Hope you are all great. I'll check in
again
later this week. ALL GOOD THINGS to you all....
