Thanks for your thoughts on "intention setting" in performance.
Very lovely, and very helpful. I can tweak them for my own use. Excellent.
Tonight I had a very tricky concert. 20 minutes without playing a note, then a fast and furious notorious solo (piccolo part in Tchaikovsky's 4th Symphony).
I went into meditation for the 20 mins, using a mantra, silently, but still being aware of being on stage, live in the Albert Hall.(It was baking hot!)
I opened my eyes, picked up the instrument in plenty of time, and delivered the notes in a balanced, calm state. My best one yet! Useful technique.........
BUT, I have had comments about being "asleep" on stage, and the BBC were not all happy!
You can't win! At least the radio people wouldn't know!
Surreal.
You have to laugh.
