Dear Alexander,
Thanks for your thoughts on "intention setting" in performance.
Very lovely, and very helpful. I can tweak them for my own use. Excellent.
Tonight I had a very tricky concert. 20 minutes without playing a note, then a fast and furious notorious solo (piccolo part in Tchaikovsky's 4th Symphony).
I went into meditation for the 20 mins, using a mantra, silently, but still being aware of being on stage, live in the Albert Hall.(It was baking hot!)
I opened my eyes, picked up the instrument in plenty of time, and delivered the notes in a balanced, calm state. My best one yet! Useful technique.........
BUT, I have had comments about being "asleep" on stage, and the BBC were not all happy!
You can't win! At least the radio people wouldn't know!
Surreal.
You have to laugh.
Love from Eva
