Spero/ piano,vocals; Elliot Spero/ saxophones,percussion;Mike
Woinoski/ bass and Jody Sumber/ drums. They perform the
singer/pianist's vibrant, multifaceted vocal and instrumental material
that fuses the styles and rhythms of Brazilian/Latin with pop and
jazz. It is energetic, soulful and spicy! Having a rich variety of
influences, Christine is a pianist, singer and first rate songwriter
whose work is passionate, unique and diverse. The real essence of
Christine is best experienced in her live performances. Her
well-crafted songs are mature and complex and leave a lot of room for
other musicians to express themselves. The group has been featured on
Time Warner Cable's, "Poughkeepsie LIVE!" Check out their website

Recording Magazine soon.
Christine is the granddaughter of a well known classical pianist and
comes from a musical family. She was in the church choir and also
accompanist and soloist on piano and organ. After recording her first
songs on RCA as a teen, Christine moved to the West Coast to attend
college for music and botany. She worked with many jazz and classical
musicians who influenced her eclectic and personal style of composing.
Back in her native New York, she founded a six-piece group, including
saxophone and trumpet which toured the East Coast. Christine settled
in the Catskills to raise her three children while continuing to play,
sing and record. She has been musical director and player in many
drama productions in her community and the Tri-State Area.
Comparing Christine Spero's achievement to "American Idol" would
denigrate what the East Jewett singer-songwriter has done. While "Idol"
dilutes and sanitizes pop music, Spero heightens it. Congratulations to
Christine Spero. She quietly brought honor to Greene County and proves
music that flies under the radar can have its own integrity (The Daily
Mail/Hudson Valley Newspapers)
Saxophonist, percussionist, producer, Elliot Spero, originally from
Forest Hills, N.Y. founded his own ensembles in San Francisco and
worked with many well-known Bay Area musicians after attending S.F.
State College for music. A multi-instrumentalist, he also plays
keyboards, flutes and an Electronic Wind Instrument (EWI). He
engineered and produced "We Call It Music" and owns a recording studio
in New York.
Other members of the rhythm section include: drummer Curtis Watts,
who played with such luminaries as Pharaoh Sanders, Sonny Fortune,
Jaco Pastorius, Roy Ayers and guitarist, Vernon Reid. Percussionist,
Brian Albano worked with the Gil Evans trio and Andy Bey. Also,
bassist Steve Rust who has toured with Hubert Laws, Paul Simon and
recorded with James Galway and drummer, Harvey Sorgen of Hot Tuna also
has worked with Paul Simon, Ahmad Jamal, Bill Frisell and Roswell
Rudd.
