Speaking of PHIL KEAGGY - we just got to see the guitar
master live in concert and we were pleasantly surprised when industry legends Tony Levin and Jerry Marotta of Peter Gabriel's band joined him for a 20 minute improvisational set... 
Even more Keaggy connections as Phil's former bandmate DAN CUNNINGHAM has sent us his latest CD entitled Wayfaring Stranger - we enjoyed the 16 tracks by the accomplished acoustic guitarist and award winning songwriter who updates the colorful Appalachian storytelling tradition with tales of wit and woe on his latest release. Well known tunes like Battle Cry Of Freedom and Wayfaring Stranger are also given new life with fresh, earthy interpretations... OH DEAR! OH BROTHER! The
national musical collective known as JL Hannah's SumVoices have just released a preview song from their forthcoming CD entitled "Dear" and this compelling and strong track features the fine electric fretwork of Peter Kaukonen, underscoring the melodic meadows and the roaming refrains of the musical Roads they are currently following... nice job there guys!... IS YOUR MUSIC AWARD WORTHY? THE STRANGLERS return with their sixteenth effort that has a surprisingly strong commercial feel. The 2006 opus from the band that was named best punk band in the UK (Over Media Sensations the Sex Pistols) has many great moment and harkens back to the best of the new wave ere - think Squeeze meets The Smithereens in a punkier mold. This album marks the beginning of "Stranglers Mk Iii", following the very amicable departure of lead singer Paul Roberts. Vocal duties are now shared by founding bassist Jean-Jacques Burnell and guitarist Baz Warne. The Menininblack also return to the EMI fold where they began
their journey over 30 years prior and they keep the darkness perpetuated with their unique brand of aggressive rock... UN-NERVED BY NIRVANA! Grunge has returned with the DVD release of Nirvana's Live! Tonight! Sold Out!! Originally conceived by Kurt Cobain the year after the release of Nirvana's Nevermind, Live! Tonight! Sold Out!! makes its DVD debut on November 7th, 2006. First issued on VHS in 1994, Live! Tonight! Sold Out!! has now been color-corrected, digitally remastered for the first time in 5.1 surround sound and expanded from its original 83 minutes to include several previously unreleased performances. A powerful and personal chronicle of the band's 1991-1992 world tour, and continuing through 1993, the period during which Nirvana became one of the most iconic and important bands in rock music, Live! Tonight! Sold Out!! features 15 complete songs plus interviews, behind-the-scenes exploits and excerpts
from the group's home video archives. The original video was completed with great care by band members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl after Cobain's death...

Mute Records is thrilled to announce the release of ODE TO OCHRASY, the third
album from Swedish five-piece Mando Diao. OCHRASY, which follows 2005's critically-acclaimed HURRICANE BAR, also on Mute, will be released April 24th. As one of the more prominent Swedish bands, Mando Diao, which formed in the late 90's while all the members were still in their teens, has spent much of the last two years on the road, packing shows all over Europe, Japan and the US, and picking up gold records in several European countries. The band also received wide press attention in the United States during the release of HURRICANE BAR, picking up raves everywhere from Paste, who praised their "superior songwriting and musical depth" to Rolling Stone, who called them "Sweden's tastiest exports"...

Renowned blues and rock guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd - along with a film crew, a portable recording studio and producer Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads) - embarked on a ten-day journey into the heart of the American South, documenting and recording an impressive lineup of blues veterans. Warner Bros./Reprise Records releases the resulting documentary and accompanying live CD Ten Days Out (Blues From The Backroads) in January, 2007. Directed by Noble Jones, Ten Days Out captures the stories and music of some of America's best-known blues artists including B.B. King, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown and Honeyboy Edwards as well as some of the genre's lesser-known rare talents.... RICK JAMES GOES DEEPER! A brilliant and prolific musical "Super Freak" to the end,
legendary R&B/ funk star Rick James may have skipped this mortal coil in 2004, but he left more than just a several decade legacy behind when he passed. With James' estate finally settled, his longtime business manager Ron Kramer is excited to announce a new multi-media slew of Rick James projects in 2007 - beginning with the release of the never before heard track "Deeper Still," set to ship to Urban AC Radio in late January. The grooving single, which features the sultry Spanish language vocals of singer Ivonne Contreras, will be also be included in an as yet untitled album of all new James material, set for release this spring. Both the single and the album will be released on the new independent label Stone City Records...

"Don't Dream It's Over," "Fall At Your Feet," "It's Only Natural," "Distant Sun," and "Locked Out"--a fitting finale for an incredibly special group whose songs touched millions. TIME TO PARTY WITH NEW GRATEFUL DEAD MOOSIC! Rhino Entertainment has released the Grateful Dead's Live at The Cow Palace , New Year's Eve, 1976 on January 23. Habitual listeners of the Grateful Dead's live recordings are known for their ability to identify the year of a performance by
listening to just a few notes. But for even the most "dead"icated listener, the band's 1976 New Year's Eve concert presents a genuine challenge. Rarely does any Dead show display the essence of several distinct periods of their sound, but this release contains the best elements of three or four clearly defined eras, and the sum of the parts adds up to one of the most interesting and inspired concerts of the band's 30-year performing career. The Grateful Dead and Rhino Records ring in 2007 by turning back the clock 30 years to uncover the musical riches of this special performance with Live At The Cow Palace, New Year's Eve, 1976... THREE NIGHT DISPATCH - THE LEGEND WILL GROW IN THE GARDEN! By overwhelming demand, indie rock phenomenon Dispatch recently added a third night to "Dispatch: Zimbabwe," a benefit concert being held at Madison Square Garden. Originally created as a one-night event to take place on July 14, 2007,
tickets sold out within 30 minutes via an exclusive Myspace.com pre-sale. In order to accommodate fans, July 13th was added immediately. In less than 24 hours, the second night was sold out via the same pre-sale, and now the Vermont-formed trio has announced they will play a third night on July 15th. These dates have already made history, making Dispatch the first independent band to sell out Madison Square Garden. The three members of Dispatch have made a strong impact on the American music industry, releasing 6 albums, including one live album and a live DVD, on their own label and selling more than 600,000 albums, solely based off of incredible word of mouth that was built off of file sharing in the early 90's and active touring. Brad Corrigan, Pete Francis and Chad Urmston became pioneers in the music industry, rising up without the assistance of a major record company. In 2004 Dispatch decided to call it quits and celebrate an amazing eight-year run by performing a
free farewell show in Boston, MA. More than 110,000 fans from 25 countries showed up, making it the largest independent music event in history. Now Dispatch is back, coming together for a cause that's greater than anything that drew them apart. All of the proceeds from "Dispatch: Zimbabwe" will go towards fighting disease, famine, and social injustice in Zimbabwe...
