Here is Joey's Chat from last night. I hope you all enjoy it
teenhollywood_marc: Okay, JOEY MCINTYRE has now joined us!
teenhollywood_marc: Hi Joey!
Joey McIntyre: Rock 'n roll!
The_Siren_Poet: What is your favorite song off of Meet Joe Mac and why?
Joey McIntyre: That's a tough one. It changes often. Right now, I think "NYC girls" because I think we all have a new affinity for New York City and I'm going to be singing that song in the thanksgiving day parade! Its going to be on NBC
Lovetheleatherpants01: Which do you consider to be more challenging, creating music or acting?
Joey McIntyre: Well, there are certain things that come easily in both... But I think there is no end to how far you can go and how much you can challenge yourself in both areas! But right now, probably because I have to do it every night, acting sounds a lot more challenging.
Km73: How were you approached for the lead in Tick Tick Boom?
Joey McIntyre: The casting director called my manager and they asked me to come see the show. I saw the show.... Five minutes into the show, I already loved it! I got really excited. But I also knew how huge a comittment it was.. Not just going 8 shows a week and doing it for three or four months, but the role itself was very demanding.
Sofie_mac: Hey Joe! I love your new album! Every song is good in it's own way. Thanks for making such great music! I just wonder how you go about making new songs. Do they just pop up in your head or do you sit down and say now I'm gonna wirte a song? Love ya!
Joey McIntyre: Well, the way I do it is that ideas come up and I'll have a little digital recorder with me. Or I will sit with my buddy Emanuel and he'll be playing the guitar.. I guess it's like 50/50, but most of the time he is always playing something on the guitar that inspires the melody in me and that's how we go about it The best way to go about it is to save your ideas some way – write lyrics down, or put musical melodies on tape, so you can go back and work from there.
Flower74: Joey, I was wondering if you're going to go on tour after the musical?
Joey McIntyre: I hope so, but I'm really not exactly sure. I haven't made plans to. Lots of things could happen between then and now, so for the time being I'm going to be doing 8 shows a week for the next three to four months!
Kerrleey: hi Joe! First off.. Congratulations! On Tick tick boom! I hear you are doing an amazing job! I hope to see you in December! My question actually has three parts. How did you come about being cast in tick, tick, boom? What is it about your character "Jonathan" that appeals to you most? What were your first reactions/feelings, when you were cast?
Joey McIntyre: It's fun to be playing my age. I'm 28 years old, which is probably kind of old for TeenHollywood.. LOL. But it is about Jonathan turning 30 and he feels like he has got to do EVERYTHING before he turns 30 or he feels like a failure... Which is a pretty silly notion. But I think that a lot of people can identify with that, and I think that t he world has a facination with youth. Sometimes you feel like you have nothing left give. An an artist and a singer and a writer, I can identify with the feeling like you arnt good enough or maybe yyou should be doing something else.. All those things are the way Jonathan felt. But the show is alos learning that it doesn't matter how old you are, asl ong as you are happy and you open up your heart and lay it out on the line, that is the way good art comes out of you! This show is kind of him learning that he has to talk about real life and real issues to get honest about himself and his music. And that is sort of where Rent came from!
Lovetheleatherpants01: How is the vibe of the audience in a theater compare to the vibe of a concert?
Joey McIntyre: It is different.. But I like it. I feel like every night I am really going to work. What I have with my fans that come out to see me on concert is something special. It is much more laid back and we have a lot of fun.. But this isn't my piece – I'm just a player. There are other characters and there are other actors. It is really awesome to be a part of a team. We have fun, it is a fun show. It is exciting and you can laugh and cheer and get into the show, but you do have to respect the fact that you are sitting down and being quiet and it is not a rock concert, you know?
Bacci: Your music is very inspirational to me. Have you ever thought about putting together a remake album of your favorite classic songs? Say from sinatra and so on?
Joey McIntyre: Yeah, I guess so. I think every singer thinks of covers that they would do. I always think Elton John. I always thought of doing a song that is traditionally done by women – because I am sensitive enough to do something like that.
Ariane25: How do you deal with critics? I mean, do you ever read reviews about your work? (love from Brazil)
Joey McIntyre: I haven't yet because I don't know if many critics have come to the show yet. I did hear about a good review that might be coming out, but I don't know.. I don't know how it will affect me. Sometimes you can take it and sometimes you get mad at it. But I know that the audience is happy and regardless of whatever critics might say, you still have to get out there and do your job and entertain and try to tell a story.
Bob: Where are you during this chat?
Joey McIntyre: I'm in New York City
Jmbbs_happysun21: Joe... Do you have any pet peeves... If so what are they?
Joey McIntyre: I got plenty of pet peeves! This chat would be much too long if I listed them all.
Champagne1973: Where did the title Meet Joe Mac come from?
Joey McIntyre: Well it was a cross between "meet the beatles" and "Meet Joe Black". I just thought it was a play on the movie, but it felt right. It just felt like "hey, this is really me". I wrote a lot of my last album and I've been performing for a long time, but I felt like the way I was feeling and the music I was doing was really me. It felt really comfortable. As a writer and an artist, you want to get more open and honest as a performer, so that is what I meant.
Heather2001: Let's clear up the gossip.. Do you have a girlfriend?
Joey McIntyre: No, nope.. I'm looking!
TOTwinz: What was your best Halloween Memory?
Joey McIntyre: I have a very boring life right now, I got to work. LOL. I have one day off and work all my nights so I don't have much time. One Halloween, coming back with my friend Paul and sorting the candy out in his living room and having like fifteen pieces of gum in my mouth at the same time. That's pretty cool I guess!
Kerleey: Is there going to be a video out soon for "Easier"?
Joey McIntyre: It's to be determined..
TeeHeeGirl: Joey how is NYC revcovering and how has it effected the peopole close to you?
Joey McIntyre: Luckily, I didn't know anybody in the disaster personally. But, you know, it affects your every day life in small ways and not so small ways. The fires are still burning down at ground zero and I'm only seven blocks away. Some mornings you walk out the door and you can't take a deep breath because it stinks and that is kind of sad. That area down there was a beautiful area. I used to jog down there, down the tip of Manhattan and back around. It is just a beautiful park. Eventually we will be able to experience that again. Just the simple pleasures of living in Manhattan have been taken away. We're all getting back to at least being somewhat hopeful and people have been letting their guard down a little bit. You know, you feel bruised a little bit. You feel battered and brusied a little bit and it hurts. But we're hanging in there.
CutieDeb28: Are you going to release NYC Girls as a single? It's my fave and I think it would do really well. Thanks for the Yakima show it was fab.
Joey McIntyre: Quite possibly. There are several things that could happen in the next six months that I will keep everybody posted on. But for right now, were just concentrating on my broadway show and eventually well get back on the next step as far as me, Joe Mac, is concerned.
Jessicamcintyre: What is your favorite song to perform live?
Joey McIntyre: Right now what springs into my mind is "One Night is Not Enough"
JMBBS_BarbaraAnne: Joe, relating to TTB, did you find it harder to play a real life person as opposed to Matt in the Fantastics who is completely fictional?
Joey McIntyre: They are worlds apart.. Matt is a sweet character and very naive. I was younger then and it was a movie. Making movies and doing 8 shows a week is a big difference. In my eyes, there is no comparison.
Jpadore: What are your top 3 favorite movies?
Joey McIntyre: Well I always say that there are about six or seven that are my top three! But right now I would say "Midnight Run, Liar Liar, and Shakespeare in Love.
LOVEJOESPEHMAC: Do you sing in the shower?
Joey McIntyre: Of course! but lately it seems like I'm singing so much at night, I have to save my voice. So I'm not really.. I'm just relaxing and subconsciously singing like you do in the shower. but some of my ideas I get come from singing in the shower, definitely!
Sulemy: I have a perfect question, I have never been out on a date in my life (honestly) I am 21. If you were to take me out and being my first date, where would you take me?
Joey McIntyre: I gotta meet you first, I'm sorry.
Jennjenn75: Back in the NKOTB days I remember you had a boston terrier (like I do now)... do you still have one or any other pets with your busy schedule?
Joey McIntyre: No, I can't keep pets. I am able to buy a plant though. This is the first time that I've been home non-stop for a few months... in years. So it's pretty cool to be able to have a base and go to work everyday. I'm going to start with a plant!!
Brandy_swizzle: Who would you like to duet with musically? And who would you love to perform with theatrically?
Joey McIntyre: Hmm.. Duet with .... that's a tough one! Maybe do a duet with LeAnn Rimes. She's got a beautiful voice. But I guess I would have to say Gwyneth Paltrow!!
LOVEJOESPEHMAC: are you a nite owl???
Joey McIntyre: No
ToTwinz: What game show would you like to be a contestant on?
Joey McIntyre: The $25,000 pyramid.. how many of you know that one? :)
Skateprincess: describe what you are feeling when you look out at the audience and see your Girls who you know have traveled great distances to see your show.
Joey McIntyre: Are you talking about Tick Tick Boom? Cause I can't really see anybody. :) But I always appreciate people traveling, where it is a subway or a bus or a plane, it doesn't matter. I've had people say "I drove 8 hours for you!". But then there is someone who has FLOWN 8 hours for me! I really appreciate every person that comes out. It is something that I don't take lightly.
Sookie74: Joe, which do you prefer – Joe or Joe??
Joey McIntyre: Doesn't matter
Joesangel4ever2002: Do you hang out with former ex new kids? Do you miss being in a group???
Joey McIntyre: I don't really hang out with them very much. But I don't miss being in a group. It was fun then.
Stayce: joe, is it true that you are going to be in an epsode of Gilmore Girls?
Joey McIntyre: No, I wish :)
Cicely: are there any rituals you go thought to prepare yourself mentally and physically to perform this role every night??
Joey McIntyre: Not totally. There is nothing very strict about it.. It's something that I think about in my sleep, when I wake up in the morning, when I'm going to the theater .. it is always on my mind.
Sookie74: I've been lucky enough to see you perform live, once (9/11/01) and it was amazing! Have you ever considered releasing a LIVE album??
Joey McIntyre: Yes I wouldn't be surprised if we did that at some point in the near future.
TorontoJen: Whats the most important thing you have learned about yourself this year?
Joey McIntyre: the most important thing? When I really want something, I can get it. :) And that I can work thought what I thought were weaknesses and break thought those "walls" that I htought were going to stop me from doing something.
Roxyrod: what are you doing to do after this chat?
Joey McIntyre: Going to bed!
Sookie74: On the topic of girlfriends.. would you prefer one in the entertainment industry so you have more in common? Or could a normal girl steal your heart?
Joey McIntyre: as long as the girl is normal, whether she is in or out of show business. It doesn't matter, either way. No matter what the relationship is, it is going to be challenging.
U291832: On the less serious side – as a bruins fan, whats it like being in ranger territory? I'm guesing you don't get to see to many games?
Joey McIntyre: Well there is nothing worth that being a Red Sox fan in new your city... it makes everything challenging!
Cateyesizwatchingu: If you had a meeting with prez bush today what would you ask him?
Joey McIntyre: I would ask him how he would want me to serve or help out. I would ask him about the best way that I could do something for the country. And hopefully he would ask me to sing a song in the rose garden or something!
Joesanangel4ever2002: If you had to perform a new kids song again, what would you like to perform?
Joey McIntyre: I always perform new kids songs in concert, so that is nothing new. But cover girl is my favorite right now, especially the rendition that we do.
Cicely: Hey Joe do you ever get tired of meeting fans and signing autographs, and posing for pics???
Joey McIntyre: Well, no, I don't. I'm always confortable with the fact that I'm going to give until I can't give anymore. And when it is time, I'll just say "alright, I gotta have my own time" and I'm comfortable with that because I'll know that I gave what I could give.
Skateprincess: In your spare time, what do you do for FUN?
Joey McIntyre: I just like walking around New York, seeing the different shops, writing letters, writing in my journal.. But fortunately, I make music for a living and it is something that I enjoy!
Aleja5161: what kind of music are you listening to lately?
Joey McIntyre: I listen to everything from U2 to Elton John's new CD which I really like, Mary J. Blige, the new Tori Amos is pretty funky..Pete Yorn.. That is about it!
Proud2babraveheart: What is it like being along side a legendary Molly Ringwald in TTB?
Joey McIntyre: It was a lot of fun. She is really sweet and very professional. It was good watching her work and seeing her dedication. I think it was a pleasant surprise for her to find that she still has a voice. She hadn't sung since she was 10 years old, during annie. All of a sudden she started singing again. She is working a lot on her voice and it is getting better and better, stronger and stronger. I think that people were pleasantly surprised!
JerseyGirlJenn30: do you ever get tired of being know as an ex new kid? And does it bother you at times/!
Joey McIntyre: No, it doesn't bother me. As long as I am doing my work and working on something that is fulfilling and exciting – and as long as I'm being artistic and creative – it really doesn't matter to me how people look at me. Or how they see me. All they have to do is look at my work and they will get a sense of who I am.
Jpismybuddy: would you ever consider getting a tattoo?
Joey McIntyre: I'd consider it, yeah. But I don't know if I ever will.
Pround2babraveheart: What is the most untrue rumor that you have heard about yourself that you would like to set the record straight on?
Joey McIntyre: Rumors are so silly, so it doesn't matter. You know, there are no rumors really that I have heard that are serious enough for me ot have to contradict.
Jpismybuddy: Aare you nervous when you appear on talk shows?
Joey McIntyre: Sometimes, I guess. Usually what I'm thinking is the time and not having ehought time to say wht I have to say.. So that sometimes makes you feel like you are being rushed and you cant get it all out.
Jmbbs_happysun21: If you were to play a professional sport... what would you play and why?
Joey McIntyre: That's a tough one.. I think I like hockey but even in my dreams, I'm not good enough, I like baseball, but I couldn't get the bat around on a 50 MPH ball, let along a 90 MPH fastball. And I like football, but I like the close proximity of the crowd with basketball and it is a little more exciting. But I am going to go with football!
Tigerladyjp: joe why didn't you use your life lines on the Millionaire show?!
Joey McIntyre: Because I felt that I really knew the question. I knew it was down to either A or B, and I didn't think that it was hard enough to use one of my life lines. Even before they put the answers up, I felt it was the one that I guessed. So all those things considered, I didn't use my life lines!
Brandy_swizzle: Would you ever consider doing a celebrity version of Survivor? If so who would you want stranded with you? (other then Gwyneth)
Joey McIntyre: No, I would want to do that.
Sookie74: Any hopes for future film projects? Or are you happier on stage?
Joey McIntyre: I've been lucky enough in my career to do things that really interested me and inspired me. I've never really had a blueprint for my career. As film is concerned, I'd like to do it if the right role presented itself, but I'd also like to stay in theater through out my career.
teenhollywood_marc: That was the last question for the evening.
teenhollywood_marc: any last words joey?
Joey McIntyre: I just want to thank everyone for coming by. If you haven't seen the show Tick Tick boom yet, come on down and enjoy the great city of New York and I promise that I'll work hard to entertain you!
