Creativity * Inspiration * Community Building
***************************************************************
Imagine yourself in the center of a circle of diverse people: teachers,
managers, doctors, students, workers - each person with their own
percussion instrument, most having never played before. It is up to you
to conduct the group and lead them through an experience of listening
and rhythmically responding until the individuals have blended into the
circle and your community is orchestrated, playing beautiful music
together.
With Arthur Hull's technique anyone can learn to lead this group into a
successful musical experience that will build an orhestra out of
novices and create a community out of individuals. Creativity,
cooperation and inspiration emerge as individuals become a cohesive
supportive group, pulsating with rhythm, spirit and fun.
The Hawaii Facilitators' Playshop offers an opportunity for those who
work with groups of people to learn rhythm facilitation skills and
community building techniques through the metaphor of a drum circle on
the island of Ouahu's beautiful north shore. With drums pulsing, trade
winds blowing and the warm crystalline blue tropical waters at your
feet you will have found paradise.
Arthur Hull has defined the field of Drum Circle Facilitation. He
offers you this opportunity to learn from the source and enter his
growing community of rhythm inspired facilitators.
You Do Not Have To Be A Musician To Participate
***************************************************************
"If you're ready to have your 'rhythm soul zipper' unzipped, your
passion called out, be coached hard, play hard, laugh a lot, connect
deeply, get stretched to the max, be inspired, come home ready to go,
then six months later begin to understand and appreciate what you
REALLY got gifted... go be with Arthur. He's the Master man."

Course Description
Hawaii 2004 will be a memorable experience that pulsates with rhythm,
facilitation and fun! We do play hard in this intensive program.
Classes are held outside under the trees, with temperate tropical
breezes, and the blue Hawaiian ocean a drum beat away. Nightly
drumming, dancing and singing around the fire often goes late into the
night.
Classes are focused and experiential, designed to support beginners and
to stimulate the advanced facilitator. Time will be provided for
networking with new friends. And yes, there is plenty of opportunity to
swim with a sea turtle or two in the warm and heavenly Hawaiian waters.
Curriculum
The facilitators Playshop is based on Arthur's book, Drum Circle
Spirit, Facilitating Human Potential Through Rhythm. The book is the
required text.
Facilitators' Playshops are designed to provide the participant with
extensive hands on experience in facilitation of a rhythm based event,
leadership and community-building skills. The program format will
include group instruction and discussions combined with small group
activities using movement, voice, musical instruments and
improvisational rhythm games. Critique and feedback for the participant
are an important part of the learning experience.
Each Participant will have multiple opportunities to facilitate as we
build our rhythm community throughout the training.

The Grand Finale Community Drum Circle
Peer-selected participants of the Facilitator's Playshop will have the
opportunity to put into practice the skills acquired during the
playshop in this celebrational community drum circle event. The
Inter-island community drum circle will be the grand finale of this
program. This event will be a major gathering for the Hawaiian Islands
drumming community.
