Impromptu Gathering of Grace Drum Circle, Jersey City
Saturday Night, Sept 11; 8:00 pm.
Hey Guys .... I know this is of short notice but one of our very own...our dear friend and fellow drummer extroidinaire......the infamous James Kraft is leaving us this Thursday to go off and seek his fortune in the big city...he'll be on his way to College in Chi-town......he's most graciously requested a drumming send-off from our heavy hitters. It was "an offer I could not refuse." Please come by the Grace Church Sanctuary Saturday Evening at 8:00pm and lets give him a some hip traveling beats for the ride...I will bring some refreshments and hope you can all come by.
ps......Yeah...we know it's 9/11 but we'd rather be drumming. Better to light a single candle then to curse the darkness....and the vibe at Grace is beautiful thing.

FROM THE WEST: Best to take Rte. 78 to the Turnpike towards the Holland Tunnel… after exit 14B and through the toll both..…proceed shortly to the Jersey City Grand Street Exit and bear off right down the ramp. Take it slow the road is bumpy. Go straight through the light and intersection at **Montgomery St., passing Ferris High on the right…continue on around the bend to the right..this is Christopher Columbus Drive. Go up about 4 or 5 lights til you hit **BARROW STREET and make a LEFT on to BARROW. Go to the very next corner and make a RIGHT on to NEWARK and then a very QUICK LEFT on to ERIE STREET. Go to the third block..this is Second St. and the church is on your left….(very large Roman Catholic Church on the right…but no drum circle there). Turn left onto Second and look for parking. Enter the church Sanctuary on Second St. through the big red Gothic doors.
FROM HUDSON COUNTY:**if you are coming from Jersey City/ Union City or vicinity… you probably know where the old Medical Center was/is on Montgomery St. … from the old Medical Center on Montgomery…..just continue downtown on Montgomery past the Jersey City Museum and then turn left on to Barrow St. Proceed on Barrow one block to Christopher Columbus Drive and then follow the directions above from Barrow St and Christopher Col. Drive..
FROM HOBOKEN…(a big welcome to Joni and the drummers from Hoboken)….cross Observer Highway at Marin Blvd and proceed South into Jersey City…the streets are numbered here….proceed down Marin Blvd. From 10th (about 8 blocks) til you get to Second St. and make a right on Second go up one block to Erie and Grace Church is on the far NW corner….enter through the big Red Gothic Doors on Second St.
PATH TRAIN: Take the Path to GROVE STREET STATION. Go up the exit with the escalator (not the other) this puts you on a small "island" at the intersection of Grove and Newark Ave. Walk straight off the escalator and turn to your left…carefully cross the street and proceed down Newark Ave. 1 or 2 blocks to Erie St. Turn right on Erie and go two blocks…pass Bay….then First….. and then Grace Church is at the corner of Erie and Second St.. Enter as above.
If truly in doubt try my cell at 201-803-6877.
Extra parking around the corner…directly parallel to the church on First Street..there is a nice municipal lot there no need to feed the meter it is after 7pm. DO NOT park in the lot directly up and across form the church on Second. It is private and folks will not be thrilled.

From the West Side Highway. Take the Dyckman Street exit.
Follow the exit as it merges with Broadway.
Drive North on Broadway to 218th Street.
Take a left on 218th Street and drive on 218th Street.
The entrance to the park is at the end of the street.
The Nature Center is located in Inwood Park.
From East side of N.Y.C. -
Take the FDR/East River Drive north to end. The end of the highway is at Dyckman Street. Bear left on Dyckman Street. Take Dyckman west to Broadway, and take a right on Broadway. Proceed north to 218th Street and make a left turn. The entrance to the park is at the end of 218th Street.
