Being the trainspotter I am in the barbershop world, It is good to
see a quartet which last performed in 2002 and finishing 7th in nzabs
quartet comp is competing again and has scored very well with a 69%
at central regional, Fusion. Funnily enough, I have never heard them
at all coz I didn't go to Timaru with the COS that year but
understand they have done songs such as 'If I only had a brain' - a
gold medal winning song (Four Voices 2002). Because MIB, Phoenix
Rising and Four are not competing in Napier, maybe these guys will
take a medal. Who knows. Ofcourse it is pending on what the
northern region can produce in terms of quality quartets in their
regional comp which should be underway shortly. I understand also
that Fusion also have a website, one of the only quartets in our
NZABS society who have bothered to take the time to do this. Other
quartets that I know of with their own websites are MIB and Razors
edge.
Maybe there could be a drive to get a lot of the current quartets in
our society to make their own website. Maybe a lot of the current
ones are not stable and only form for particular conventions then
break up. I would personally like to gain info on quite a few
quartets - mainly because I am a crazy barbershop need-to-know-it-
all. However, I understand there is a cost involved in doing so -
MIB Online has site sponsors which keep their site functioning.
I should be watching the bbshp show in Napier but won't be competing
with the COS this year. Should be good with Wheelhouse as a guest
quartet.
