Hello all.
Our chorus from Christchurch (The Canterbury Plainsmen) sang at the annual
Christmas Eve concert, Carols by Candlelight on the 24th of December. It
was held in Victoria Square - the same square as the Town Hall is placed.
There was a turnout of about 30,000.
We sang as the choir for the carollers so they would know the melody etc.
Our chorus stood on stage wearing white blazers and coloured shirts
(purple, blue and red). The Salvation Army Band played along with us
throughout the event, but it was not televised.
A mixed harmony chorus called Accord sang "Let there be peace on Earth" as
a song proclaiming peace in current wartimes. Two of the chorus also sang
solo parts as Three Kings with an outside Soloist.
A jolly joyful night for all.
Hopefully some of the crowd will remember the chorus and will come along
to our next open night!
Have a Happy New Year. Live on Barbershop.
Correspondent Andrew Grieve signing off.
