So, there has been like, no activity on here for the last year. At all. Which
is a shame really...
Who's all excited about coming to convention next weekend? Should be fun!
Seems ages since Dunedin in '07! Any predictions, or tags that we should sing,
or complaints about the lack of Sean, or anything?
See y'all soon :)
I invited you to join Facebook a while back and wanted to remind you that once
you join, we'll be able to connect online, share photos, organize groups and
events, and more.
Thanks,
Andrew

Dear All
The PoA Chorus are having a most fantabulous concert and wondered if any of you
like to
come and have a good night out to enjoy some good quality singing. It's on:
Fri 25th July 7:30pm
Church of the Holy Sepulchre
10 Burleigh St Grafton
Tickets are $10 concession (students, senior citizens), $20 full, plus discounts
for
families/groups
If you do indeed fancy it you can email (clare.lee@...) and we can
reserve some
tickets for you, if not there are doors sales.
Just to recap, PoA is a male voice chorus, which sing a variety of a capella
music, including
old and new school barbershop, gospel and R&B, the list is expanding....
We are travelling and competing in Honolulu, Hawaii this year in October to
represent NZ
at the Pan Pacific Harmony Competition, so it's a fundraiser for our big trip
too. Bring the
family, your friends and foes, the more the merrier. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!
You can check out a small snippet of the guys performing as guest artists at the
Holy
Trinity last month at the Young Singers In Harmony Comps and our last year
competition
pieces below:

Anyone tried downloading the "Superband" test clip from www.bhs-
live.com in preparation for the Nashville webcast? I get constant
buffering all the way through. My ADSL broadband connection thru Xtra
is actually pretty healthy these days and I can download Youtube clips
with no buffering at all.
Anyone else tried?
Allan
Ah well.. Apologies if you are all offended.
Reason it started was that Yahoo had a hernia yesterday (and possibly day
before) where they were not accepting emails from yahoo group members sent to
groups. (which is why I sent the "delete me" email - as a check!)
Took 24 hrs to fix and numerous bounced emails.. But eventually it was back in
service. Although it did hiccup and drop out a second time for a couple of
hours.
I was happy to reply to Pat as a double check. It is also nice to hear from a
barbershopper that is distant and often "forgotten in the desert"...
Anyway.. enough waffle.. back to studies...
Service seems back and looks stable, finally!! or we would not be having this
chat ;-)

I'm fair to middlin', some good days, some bad, you know how it
goes. :-) I'm still in Israel. Have been here 4.5 years now and,
other than not enough barbershop singing (only 3 choruses and 4
quartets), I like it a lot. It's NOTHING like the media portrays
it and, other than a few small headaches and inconveniences (the
drivers here are terribly inconsiderate, the cost of cars is
double anywhere else in the world, and salaries are about
one-third of Europe or the States), it's a great place to live.
The food is good (so is one of the local beers, Goldstar, and
there are several microbreweries that are outstanding), the women
are lovely, and the choir singing is HUGE (over 800 local choirs
and other types of singing groups in this little, tiny country!)
and reasonably good (and getting better all the time ;-)).
How's by it wit' you and yours?

Hello fellow barbershoppers,
This is Shawn Thomas from the 2008 Mid-Atlantic District Quartet
Champions New Release, here to announce about my brand new website
that is focused on Learning Track Production. As some of you already
know, I do these on a regular basis, but for those out there that
don't know what I do for a living and how I can help your chorus or
quartet, here is the official website for my track business:
www.shawngthomas.com
Please, by all means, take a look around...this is a rough template
of what a possible future layout will look like, as this was created
simply on my Macbook, but you'll get the main gist.
I'm always looking for business, and I specialize in both Men's AND
Women's arrangements, and have done numerous groups already in my 5+
years of creating Learning Tracks.
I look forward to hearing from all of you, and, of course, receiving
business as well.
Take care and God Bless,
Shawn G. Thomas

The day after this year's successful National Secondary Schools YSIH
Competition, Jo Ellis (National YWIH Co-ordinator) said to me: "What
do you think about the idea of starting up a website for YSIH?"
I thought it was great… And so I did it!
www.youngsingersinharmony.com was launched early September. This
site caters for both YMIH and YWIH, is user-friendly yet informative
for staff and students, and an effective way to directly reach our
target audience – today's youth.
You can help to make the site better by doing any of the following:
• Submit any helpful hints / documents you may have on
barbershop singing;
• Challenge your chorus members to extend themselves and become
a casual coach for schools in your area;
• Inform us if you have a concert / open evening planned so
youth in your area have a better chance of finding out about it.
Inspired by Master Director David Brooks, the website is connected to
other popular blog sites such as Bebo, Facebook, and MySpace. Kids
out there are really buzzing about barbershop – let's continue to
give them something to talk about!
Submissions welcome any time and can be made online or e-mailed to
a.tsai@....
Congratulations to Jeff, Lusa, Will and Matthew.
We love you guys and are favoured by your singing and presence at our contests.
Thank you all of you - and a special thanks to the wonderful Charlotte
Murray and to the man of the moment - Les Nation!
Also - a special thanks to the Vocal FX chorus for showing us the path to
truly wonderful and awe inspiring barbershop.

Nvertheless a pretty solid score for Resonance.
There are several factors why one set of songs scores better than another
set: tiredness, time of day, energy levels, rushed lunch and often one set
of songs is better suited to a quartet and more popular with the quartet
members.
But well done to resonance.
And to all quartet and chorus singers- a great contest in a wonderful venue!
Well done Dunedin!

Exercising parental discretion here...
Resonance's score was either a 72.8 or 73.8 average, which would have
been sufficient to put them into 2nd place, but bear in mind they only
sang two songs, which by their own admission are probably their best two
- so it's not really a fair comparison with the rest of the finalists.

Hey Geoff,
Resonance's scores aren't allowed to be included in the official summary
as they only evaluated. I'm not sure they were made public. I'd suggest
