TO ALL NAVAJO NATION BAND MEMBERS:

RE:  June 6, 2009 - Rehearsal & Potluck
 
 
The Annual Rehearsal and Potluck to kick off the 2009 marching season will take place Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Navajo Nation Fairgrounds, Window Rock, AZ from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
 
We will occupy the concession stand with benches and tables on the east side of Nakai Hall next to the Pow Wow grounds. 
 
The rehearsal will begin 10:00 a.m. sharp.  I will be present at the site by 9:00 a.m.  Please make every effort to arrive early to prepare and warmup your instrument and pick up music you may not have.
 
Please bring all of your music, instrument, music stand and/or marching lyre, pencil and pen, and bottled water.   Also other essential equipment such as reeds, slide grease, swabs, etc.  Wear sunscreen, hats, and sturdy shoes (no sandals, please!).  Have tissues, paper towels or hand towel, hand wipes and bug repellent handy.
 
For the Potluck, have your food item prepared and present by 11:30 a.m.  The Luncheon will begin promptly at 12:00 noon and end promptly at 1:00 p.m.  Parents, friends, or otherwise non-essential members may assist in preparing the area and setting up for the potluck.
 
Dishes needed are as follows, please include a serving utensil. 
Plastic servingware is suggested--spoons, tongs forks and knives.

Condiments:  Salt, pepper, green chili, dips, chips
 
Ice chest and Ice
 
Plates, cups, dishes, spoons, forks, knives, napkins,  
 
Trash bags, paper towels, table covers, aluminum foil, plastic wrap and bath tissue.
 
NOTE:  Facilities are primitive and limited.  The nearest restroom is at Bashas or McDonald's.
    We will try to have the restrooms available if possible.
 
 
To sign up for the Potluck, go to the Navajo Nation Band Yahoo! Groups page (if you are already a member of the Groups page), click on "Applications" at the bottom of the left side panel.  Click on the "June 9th Potluck" and follow the instructions to sign up.  If you are not a groups member, either send an email to navajonationband@... to sign up for the potluck this way; and/or send a message to NavajoNationBand-subscribe@yahoogroups.com to join the group page and sign up as instructed above.  This applies to current members only.

TO POTENTIAL OR BRAND NEW MEMBERS:
 
Please feel free to join us at this rehearsal.  Applications and information will be available on-site.  Bring a copy of your Social Security card for faster processing.  Also required is a Census number and a parent or guardian present if you are under 18. 

 
On another note:  I am sorry for not responding quickly to everyone's inquiries either by phone, email or otherwise regarding this weekend's rehearsal and potluck.  I hope to have my situation taken care of quickly and l look forward to working with each and every one of you for a successful marching season.
