THE DARK CITY FESTIVAL IS Thursday 08.04.2004 to Sunday
11.04.2004, have you got your tickets yet!?...

With growing interest in Gothic and Alternative lifestyles
in the UK from the mainstream press and media, promoters James
and Julia Lile, with colleague Laurie Sinclaire felt the time
was right to present a musical event of the many varied and
diverse aspects of this Scene, and showcase it to a wider
audience.

Edinburgh combines a thriving night-time club, pub and exciting
live music stages with ghost-tours, a castle, gothic architecture,
a dark history, as well as increasing popularity as an
international destination, all of which make it perfect for an
event of this kind.

A pre DARK CITY festival club event will be held for early
arrivals on Thursday 08 April, by GOTHAM the Goth-industrial
crossover club at CITY 2, in the Basement of the CITY CAFE,
Blair Street, Edinburgh. This will run as a festival meeting
point with DJ's all day. It will be free until 8pm when GOTHAM
will run till 1am. Tickets for GOTHAM may be purchased before
8pm during the day and will also available from the Underground
Nation shop.

The DARK CITY event begins on Friday 09 April at the Gothic,
historic Student Union building belonging to Edinburgh University,
Teviot House, Bristo Sq. The whole building has been taken over
to host a mega club event hosting three clubs on three floors.

Doors for the club open at 10pm and the event closes at 3am,
full bar facilities are available. This part of the weekend
is 18+ only.

Ascension (Park Room) will be playing the best of the current
gothic Electro hits. Darc Entries (Debating Hall) will feature the
best of alternative eighties music. Finsternis, (Mezzanine) will
be playing neo-classical, neo-folk and dark ambient music.

On the early part of Saturday 10 April, there will be an alternative
market selling everything from vegan chocolate to Gothic clothing
and accessories at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange on Newmarket Road.
Over 20 specialised alternative stalls will be available to
shoppers.

The Market will open at 10am and close at 5pm, entry is free.
The Edinburgh Corn Exchange is well equipped with Snack, bar
and cloakroom facilities available throughout the day and evening.

The Market part of the weekend is age 16+, the Band Nights
will be age 18+ only.

At 6pm on Saturday 10 April the doors will re-open for the first
band night of the DARK CITY festival. Please note that the first
band will play at 6.30pm.

The playing order on Saturday 10th April will be LAST CRY (UK),
KINDRED SPIRITS (SWEDEN), PRIDE AND FALL (NORWAY), followed
by firm Edinburgh Goth-scene favourites XPQ21 (GERMANY) with
the hugely popular MISSION (UK) headlining.

Some stalls will continue to trade on Saturday evening. There
will also be a club room for the last 2 hours of the night.
This will feature premier international Goth scene DJ's who will
be showcasing their skills, playing the best of alternative
music, past and present.

On Sunday 11th April the doors will open again at 6pm. The play
order on Sunday is AGONOIZE (GERMANY), then SEIZE (UK) who have
taken the German alternative charts by storm. This will be
followed by NFD (UK and ex-Fields of the Nephilim), who
have just had a single in the UK indie charts. Afterwards
GOTHMINISTER (NORWAY) will make their debut UK appearance.
Cult favourites VNV NATION (UK) headlining will end the band part
of the night.

There will again be a club room for another 2 hours until 2am
with more international and premier guest DJ's.

Notes:

WRIST BANDS: Tickets need to be exchanged for wristband at either
Underground Nation, 46 Candlemaker Row between 11am - 5.30pm,
or at Teviot House between the hours of 6pm - 9pm on Friday night
only.

DAY TICKETS: need not be exchanged for wristbands. Tickets for
SATURDAY and SUNDAY events can be purchased on the night
from the bowling reception at the rear of the complex, these
will cost £20 per night.

TRAVEL TO / FROM ECE: There is a 24 hour bus service to Slateford
Road and the City Centre, and it will be possible to phone for Taxi
services from the ECE foyer so the journey back to homes or
accommodation should not be a problem.
