Are you ready to be scared witless?
To be entertained with breathtaking magic and illusion?
World Premiere of award-winning playwright Bryony Laveryıs adaptation of
Bram Stokerıs Dracula with COLIN BAKER AND HARRY POTTER VILLIAN RICHARD
BREMMER
A BLOODCURDLINGLY BRILLIANT NEW VERSION OF BRAM STOKER'S TIMELESS NOVEL
Enigmatic and terrifying, sensual yet deadly, the fearsome figure of
Dracula continues to haunt and enthral us. As old as sin itself, the
story's epic battle between good and evil, darkness and light, is one that
has journeyed through the generations to the very heart of our modern-day
world, and maybe beyond.
Written in 1897, Bram Stokerıs novel of sexual repression and Gothic
terror
has been brought bang up to date. Count Dracula is one of the most
powerful
creations of horror ever conceived and is played by Richard Bremmer who is
perhaps best known as OHe who must not be namedı in ³Harry Potter and the
Philosopherıs Stone².
ENIGMATIC, TERRIFYING AND ENTHRALLING
DRACULA is produced by The Touring Consortium who have built up an
extraordinary reputation for touring quality drama across the UK. Previous
productions have included The Crucible which toured to packed theatres
around the country in Autumn 2004, the acclaimed Of Mice and Men which
transferred into Londonıs West End and won Matthew Kelly an Olivier Award
for OBest Actorı, The Diary of Anne Frank and A Dollıs House with Tara
Fitzgerald.
COLIN BAKER plays Van Helsing, a man determined to rid the world of the
evil and ³The Bill² star and ³Little Britain² favourite Hywel Simons plays
Van Helsingıs ready assistant Dr Seward. They are joined by TV favourites
Laura Howard, who plays John Nettlesı daughter Cully Barnaby in ³Midsomer
Murders² and ³Casualty² favourite Spencer, Ben Keaton. This very modern
adaptation of Dracula is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, one of the
countryıs
most highly regarded directors, and has one of the Magic Circleıs top men,
and ³Jonathan Creek² advisor Scott Penrose, working on the illusions.
The adaptation by award-winning writer Bryony Lavery (and Tony Award
nominee for 'Frozen') promises to scare audiences witless; entertain and
enthrall with spectacle, sound and breathtaking magic...it will span
centuries and challenge every preconception you have ever had about the
legendary figure of ...DRACULA!
