PRESS RELEASE
The Jazz Bar retains its status as the coolest new place on the
capital’s live music scene to hear both local and international
world music, hip hop, electronic jazz, funk and soul bands.
London based Mother Popcorn and Leo Tardin's Grand Pianoramax
from Switzerland via New York and France really got things
cooking during October.

Its still free to get in before 11.30pm, DJs still play before
and after the bands, we still have a dancefloor and there are
still some seats and tables at the back. The aim of the night
is simple – funky fun with a live band every night.

This collaboration between Erik D’Viking of Trouble and Astroboy
from the Four Corners / Departure Lounge camp. Every Saturday
we're still having a dance watching some bands and playing
records along with other local guest DJs.

# - 'Misfits' New Edinburgh Night and a new indie web resource

Misfits Edinburgh listing
Subway Cowgate, Edinburgh, EH1 1JW

11pm - 3am

Indie/Emo/Punk/Rock with a dash of Electro and Retro

Michael Nisbet <michael.nisbet@...>

Press Release

Misfits is Edinburgh's newest alternative night, playing a mash of
Indie/Emo/Punk/Rock with a dash of Electro and Retro. We don't do
musical elitism, believing instead that the clubbers should mould
the night as much as the DJ - requests made online as well as on
the night, guide us on our way to achieving this.

Misfits aims to be more than just your run-of-the-mill alternative
night, it intends to build a community of clubbers, united across
the splintered genres in a common appreciation of all that is
alt and indie.

Misfits Web Resource

At the heart of the Misfits night is the website
http://www.misfitsonline.co.uk allowing clubbers to find others who
are regulars at the same nights as them, interact on the forums,
log requests for the DJ to track down in advance of the next night,
submit reviews, and add their own listings of bands/clubs to the
events calender. There's also a blog if users want to keep one,
some retro games, and more features being planned.

It's a social experiment of sorts, or clubbing for the myspace
generation if you prefer. You could of course just view it as
an excuse to go out and mingle with good looking folk whilst
listening to a soundtrack that you've influenced.

The website has just launched so it's still a baby and needs
people to add content - it's a collaborative effort with anyone
able to submit news, links, reviews, and gig/club dates once
they're logged in. As well as looking for clubbers to join,
we're looking for band and promoters to get their events added.

We're being a bit cheeky and asking for your help - if you
could forward info about the website on to bands/promoters
or clubbers on your mailing list much Misfits love would be
sent your way.
