At Berlin, Queensferry St Lane, Edinburgh

Full Blurb:

With summer just around the corner, we felt it was about time we had a really
big
blowout and, having just launched our new weekly Thursday night (A Basement
Boogie)
at Berlin, where better to do it – especially when our special guest comes from
that
happening German city with the same name?!

Main Room – Electronic: Âme (Innervisions, Sonar Kollektiv, Berlin), Trouble DJs
Berlin’s Âme are one of the hottest acts in dance music just now, following the
runaway success of their Rej club SMASH (Innervisions, Sonar Kollektiv,
Defected)
last year. Expect crate-loads of that cool, minimal, electro-house which has
turned
them into global stars. Hosts the Trouble DJs showcase their take on the deep,
electronic sound in support.

Space Lounge – Freestyle: Ollie Teeba (The Herbaliser Soundsystem, Ninja Tune),
Kipp$ (Berlin, Unlock The House) Having quite literally TORN THE PLACE APART for
us
last year, London’s Ollie Teeba from Ninja Tune dons The Herbaliser returns with
more of his signature freestyle beats and pieces. Expect only the very best
soul,
classic hip hop, rare groove and doubtless the odd rock nugget in Berlin’s
brand,
spanking new Space Lounge. A veritable Edinburgh club scene stalwart, Kipp$
drops
his own take on the party-rockin’ freestyle format to warm up.

Balaeric Bar – Classic Ibiza: Gary Mac & Flix (We Are Electric) We Are
Electric’s
finest, Flix and Gary Mac, come correct in the bar with what’s sure to be a very
special Balaeric set for all the Ibiza veterans and virgins out there.

Roaming: MC Ratty B
We offer our dapper, eccentric and downright talented Master of Ceremonies,
Ratty B,
the mic in all three rooms and invite him to just GET INVOLVED whenever and
wherever
he sees fit. We think this one’s going to be pretty special and so should you!
Any
publicity you can offer this date will be greatly appreciated.

3: Ndaje: New African Connections in Edinburgh
Bongo Club, Holyrood Rd, Edinburgh

Ndaje
Thur 31st May,
9pm – 2am
Tickets: £5 (in advance from Tickets Scotland and Ripping, and on the door)

Blurb: Ndaje: New African Connections in Edinburgh
Ndaje (African Connections) is an exciting new event on the Edinburgh music
scene.

African music has influenced, and been influenced by, music from all round the
world. Since moving to Scotland seven years ago, Senegalese musician Samba
Sene
has been making friends through his music. Ndaje will bring together some of
those
friends for an evening of Afro-beats, Ska, Reggae, Roots, Salsa, Celtic and
Jazz..
and much more!

There will be live performances headlined by leading Edinburgh ska-mongers
Skaramanga (featuring members of the legendary Bombskare) and Samba's band Diwan
with their trademark jazzy grooves, sassy horns and compulsive Afro-beats. Other
guests include Edinburgh jazz singer Sophie Bancroft with Tom Lyne on double
bass
and Senegalese acoustic musician Sylvain Ayite. There will be a selection of
Edinburgh's finest DJs spinning the decks with reggae, roots and salsa sets
including James Combe, Tigerr Tigerr and Messenger regular Jeremiyah,

The first Ndaje will be in the atmospheric Bongo Club (Holyrood Rd, Edinburgh)
on
Thurs 31 May, 9pm-2am; tickets for this first event are at a special price of £5
(that's less than 2 drinks at the bar!). There will be Caribbean food available
to
keep the energy levels up!

Organiser Samba Sene said: "Ndaje is about promoting different cultures - from
Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia, Latin America, Jamaica, Scotland, Ireland...
wherever!
There will be time to listen, time to play and time to dance. Through music we
are
all one family!"

Notes:
Ndaje: noun; pron n-da-jay (no vowel sound on the n) – gathering
Sene is pronounced Sennay (as in Senegal)
Samba Sene & Diwan will be headlining at Mugdock Festival in June before heading
into a 3-week run at the popular Jazz Bar for the Edinburgh festival.
