Radiohead, Joy Division, Smog & Will Oldham, the band forge a uniquely hypnotic

mesmerising sound.

The debut LP, "Hello New World" was releashed this year and produced by Owen
Turner
of Magoo, at Sickroom studios and mastered by the legendary Kramer, who has
previously worked with the likes of Lou Reed, Yo La Tengo and Low. sWith tracks
like
Protect The Humans, it's a wall of noise rock song with a good dose of primal
screaming.

This collaboration has been conceived through a long-term friendship, all night
tired-eyed discussions about music, dancing ‘til dawn at soul weekenders and a
love
of double-teaming. We didn’t say the truth was going to be pretty so we kept
our
promise and decided to present this night with two double DJ partnerships.

Hobbes (Trouble & Dfrnt Trouble) & Erik d’Viking (Trouble & Fish Fry)
Known for muddling beats from many different styles of music, the Trouble DJs
have
been getting excited about the new wave of house music that has a stripped down
groove, powerful and sometimes rough drums, electronic synths and throbbing
hoover-like or pulsing bass lines.

This summer the they have bookings at Glasgow’s Merchant City Festival, Camden’s
Lockside Lounge and for the second year running an invite to play at Rob Da
Bank’s
Bestival, this year being asked to play 2 sets – one in the Hidden Disco tent
and
one in their famous Bollywood Bar. It may look miserable from your front room
but
its going to be a bright summer for the brothers who know how to rock a party,
mixing up old and new with flippant smiles all round.

Leon Easter (Edinburgh Boat Party) & Steven Rodgers (The Soul Boat)
Representing this night’s portion of soulful music that has the beats arranged
in a
comfortable 4/4 shape are Leon and Steven. Fresh from the success of the
Edinburgh
Boat Parties, Leon is developing a new tide of supporters for soulful house.
This
music genre is influenced as much by jazz-funk as it steals from gospel, and
almost
fell out of favour with Edinburgh club goers. No-one has been as dedicated or
hard
working as Leon who continues to fly the flag for the music that he loves even
if
the figures aren’t pretty!

The Soul Boat as meant to set sail from Queensferry last weekend.
Due to a drive shaft failure on the boat the water borne northern and modern
soul
session had to be moved to Berlin in the West End. With 200 people storming
through
the doors for the impromptu party, new discovery, 21 year old Steven from
Whitburn
wowed the wide age range of punters with “a deep understanding of the music and
subliminal mixing ability for one so young”. You can credit that quote to Leon
who
was so blown away that he asked him to join him behind the decks at the next
available opportunity.

The Edinburgh Festival is so diverse, Amplified Playground have decided to
change
the rules for normal gig-goers and join in the 24 hour fun and frolics that make
Edinburgh such a vibrant city at this time of year.

For 3 Thursdays during the Fringe, we will showcase the best up and coming
musical
talent in the country with some of the finest up and coming bands from
Edinburgh,
Glasgow and even Mull. All these bands have played Amplified Playground before
but
this time around will be playing unplugged sets but with the added difference of
being late night shows.

The venue, “Medina”, Fringe Venue No 205 is situated in the hub of the Fringe on
Bristo Square next to the Spiegel Garden and Teviot, and was the venue KT
Tunstall
made a name for herself with her acoustic sessions.
