Sat 26th July 2008 Joint Birthday Party for Fish Fry (3 Years) and Departure Lounge (5 Years)
Sat 2nd August 2008
On Stage: Mosa Funk Club
They are influenced by acts such as JTQ, Fertile Ground, Crazy P, Miss Dynamite and Goldie Lookin Chain (all of whom they have shared stages
with). Combining urban chic and good humour with a jumping ska beat, afro-funk and disco, they always get the dance floor fired up. When they release an irresistible treasure trove of hand held percussion toys into the audience, there's always a surge of people ready to get involved. Carnival madness!

Live On Stage: The Tremonauts
This Edinburgh debut performance moves in a fresh direction for the Fish Fry. This gang came to our attention through the critical acclaim via of one of the writers critically acclaimed side projects, Fribo. Following some MP3 swapping we were hooked on their rawkus sound that fuses folk with electronic madness. They describe themselves as "bringing the finest
selection of gallus tunes with hip n’ heel moving grooves, from the rough
coasts of roots audio". With a huge collective background of experience,
ranging from work with some of the worlds best celtic/roots artists, to writing
for some of the biggest theatre & dance companies. These culture-gatherers
bring music born of old dance styles and new identity, that will move your mind
as well as your feet. The line up features Gabe MacVarish (Daimh, 6ft Ginger, Cliar), Dave Boyd (Funky String Band, Tapeire) and Ewan MacPherson (Fribo, Malinky).

This awesome Edinburgh trio and Fish Fry favourites return after last month's EP launch to party with their fusion of acid jazz, funk-rock and reggae. They have performed at Ronnie Scott's jazz club and London 's Kashmir Klub as KT Tunstall's backing band (They also sang backing vocals on her
Mercury nominated album 'Eye to the Telescope').

Live On Stage: The Fontanas
Winner of the PRS (Performing Rights Society) Best New Bands of 2007, The Fontanas is the production vehicle for Sam Sutton, winner of the IVCA award for Best Music on TV 2006. The debut album, 'Introducing The Fontanas' is a catalogue of tracks ranging from downbeat back foot latin grooves and ambient trip hop to funk-fuelled house anthems that blow the doors off. With influences scattered across the globe, the music finds its roots in the foothills of Brazil and Jamaica, but defines its sound from its urban
home in West London. Co-writers on this debut release include Andy Hughes (The Orb, Atlantic Jaxx Studios). The group is fronted by Heidi Levo (The Cinematic Orchestra, Isaac Hayes and the Brand New Heavies bands) who has released tracks on Hed kandi, Defected Records, Africanism and Eclectic Breaks, amongst many others.
"The way they mix brazilian and contemporary sounds is second to none, a real treat." ROLLING

Live On Stage: BT'n'J
Flying in from Prague for a show at the Jazz Bar and Stereo in Glasgow. This full live band perform an interesting blend of Latin funk, Balkan rhythms, Yiddish ska and gypsy ska with some fine Czech MCs toasting to the success of such a heady concoction. The band will jam all 7 of their musicians onto the tiny jazz bar stage. They came to our attention via the Edinburgh's Weird Attractors and Glasgow noise makers Samba Ya Bamba. If you like a bohemian brand of lunacy then this gang and their local network of dedicated fans ought to tempt you out of the house for this festival special.
