Dear Fringe Customer,
You may have heard that we are experiencing some problems with the Fringe Box Office system. We want to assure you that the Fringe will go ahead as planned and that it will be as big and brilliant as ever.
edfringe.com will always contain the most accurate information available on how to purchase tickets for every show at the Fringe.
We thought, however, that it would be useful to post some answers to frequently asked questions.
The Fringe Team
The Problem
What is wrong? A new box office system, provided by Pivotal Integration was launched in June and soon after we encountered a combination of technical problems that resulted in slower than expected processing of ticket purchases. How are you trying to fix it? We implemented an alternative web-based ticketing system to get things running smoothly again. Kraya our website support company delivered the web-based system quickly and this allowed ticket buying to continue across counters, telephones and on the website.
However we needed to return to the full box office system, provided by Pivotal Integration, to enable ticket printing. On return to this system we have encountered delays in printing tickets, and we are unable to supply tickets as quickly as we need to mail out in advance of the Fringe.
The Fringe Box Office is currently making arrangements with all Fringe venues for customers who have bought tickets and we will be in contact with everyone who has bought tickets soon to tell them how to collect their tickets.
We continue to work with our box office supplier Pivotal Integration to address all the issues to restore ticket printing as soon as possible. We are also continuing to work with Kraya who are helpfully making additional changes to our website.
Buying and collecting tickets
Where and when can I collect the tickets I've ordered? We will inform all customers next week about collection arrangements. The latest information will be available on our website.
How do I get tickets? Our website, edfringe.com, will always contain the most accurate and up to date information available about every show at the Fringe. Will all shows in the brochure go ahead? We don't envisage that this issue will lead to any shows being cancelled. There are 2088 shows at the Fringe and each year the occasional show is cancelled for a range of different reasons. If I want a refund what do I do? The Fringe is going ahead as normal. Refunds will only be made if a performance is cancelled. Ticket buyers will be able to attend all shows they have purchased tickets for.
Does this affect any other festivals? No other festivals are affected. Will I have to queue at the Fringe Box Office for tickets? The Fringe is an extremely popular festival so there may be some queues as there is every year. We will inform all customers next week about how to collect tickets.
Which venues are affected? Our ticket system is used for all venues involved in the Fringe so ticket distribution for all Fringe venues is affected in some way, however you can still buy tickets for all shows.
If I buy more tickets, will they be posted to me? It is unlikely that tickets will be posted to you but if you buy a ticket though our box office, you will be able to see the show. We will inform all customers next week about how to collect tickets.
Can I collect tickets that I have bought online just before I go to see the show? There may be different arrangements in place for different venues so we will let you know the best way to collect your tickets next week.
Will I be able to buy tickets at the venue just before the show starts? Yes. Although, be aware that many shows sell out well in advance. Can I buy tickets from venues now? 247 venues are involved in the Fringe and many venues will have different arrangements, as is the case every year. You can still get the most up to date information from edfringe.com.
