More Information

Rose McDowall
--
It is a homecoming of sorts. Rose McDowall has carved a unique
niche for herself in the history of modern music.

She is most widely known for being one half of the 80s pop duo
Strawberry Switchblade. But she is also revered as a fixture in the
British underground music scene as a regular member of apocalyptic-
folk giants Current 93, experimental-industrial group Coil, and
neofolk legends Death In June.
In the meantime she has recorded with industrial maverick Boyd Rice
and fronted the cult band known as Sorrow, a fixture on the European
festival circuit making rare but highly anticipated live appearances
in select intimate locations.

On the 28th of April Rose McDowall, together with a band of familiar
faces, will make her first solo appearance in Edinburgh in over 20
years with a largely acoustic display of her best loved songs from
all her musical projects from the early days of Strawberry
Switchblade, through her apocalyptic-folk and avante-garde years and
a few songs from her forthcoming solo album.

tickets are available online through www.rosemcdowall.com

In Gowan Ring
--
With a musical career spanning over a decade and more than 10 full-
length albums, In Gowan Ring - a project with a fluid membership
centered around enigmatic Utah-born musician B'eirth - create dark,
haunting, poetic folk music blending traditional with experimental.

Originally inspired by the music of the Troubadours and Trouvères -
the "poet-musicians" of 12th and 13th Century France, In Gowan Ring
have an instantly recognisable sound (often created with home-build
instruments), which will appeal to fans of the current "New Weird
America" of Devendra Banhart, Andrew Bird, and CocoRosie; the post-
industrial European-rooted folk music of Current 93, Forseti, or
Blood Axis; as well as older psych-folk acts such as Nick Drake or
Donovan.

In Gowan Ring's music could be classed in the sub-sub-genre of "wyrd
folk", but we prefer his own description of "Archaic Surrealism".

Fimbulvetr
--
One of a very small handful of clubs in the UK with similar
playlists; Fimbulvetr specialises in dark atmospheric music; playing
a genre-crossing mix of post-industrial, dark/black ambient, neo-
folk, neo-classical, noise, post-rock, ethereal, experimental
electronic, noise and related styles.

The name "Fimbulvetr" refers to the three-year winter preceeding the
end of the world in norse mythology.

Sorry for X-posting,

cheers,
