PRESS RELEASE
In a time where we can all use a bit of escapism, music is a perfect remedy to the blues. When it comes to live shows, the more flamboyant the better! With that in mind, Hanzel Und Gretyl, one of the world’s most prolific and ostentatious Metal acts to date, have announced an upcoming show at Glasgow’s Classic Grand, on Tuesday, 4th August.
“Led by goggle-sporting maniac Kaiser Von Loopy (an early indication of their unrestrained lunacy) they simply demand attention, high-fiving the front rows while blasting out some of the catchiest yet hardest-hitting anthems around” – Kerrang!
Formed in 1993, New York-based Death Metal outfit Hanzel Und Gretyl have always been a concept act. Founding members Kaiser Von Loopy and Vas Kallas remain fixated on a machine-themed approach to music writing and performance that has popularised the quote "Machines Good, People Bad” amongst their fans. Even now, HuG remain absorbed in a futuristic, post apocalyptic, extra terrestrial German fairy tale... each music release adds a chapter to the story.
Hanzel und Gretyl have earned their amazing credentials in the scene over the course of 5 massive studio albums and two equally-mind-blowing EPs. Having left Energy Records in 1998, HuG were quickly snapped up by Metropolis and have never looked back. As for their live gigging experience, touring with the likes of Cradle Of Filth, Marilyn Manson and Rammstein surely speaks for itself! Currently bringing their unique, heavy-as-lead stylings to the fore on their 2009 worldwide tour, Classic Grand is the proud host venue for their only scheduled Scottish date this year!
This is an outfit that catapulted itself to prominence via its outrageous, fun, yet relentlessly- extreme approach to live Metal performance. Support act Tor Marrock perform dark, gothic, Death Metal with incredible presence and flair which has won them fans in their musical peers and the scene as a whole. The chosen support for their Glasgow show further emphasises HuG’s excellent taste in weird and wonderful Metal: this up-and-coming trio are tipped for monumental success in their genre. They may come from Wales, but rest assured they don’t share Tom Jones’ fans! Hanzel und Gretyl’s August show will not disappoint their Glasgow fans, and should further seal their reputation as one of the world’s most exciting Metal acts ever.
