Yeah! Those tracks are from a 4CD bootleg box set
called WHAT YOU BEEN A MISSIN' (Vigotone).

Well, this bootleg box set surfaced in the mid-90s.
Obviously, the tapes have been about since the 50s.
But, officially, I can't think of any "new" (ie; not
previously released) Buddy Holly material since '82.
MCA seems to keep churning low-budget compilations.
The bottom of the barrel was scraped a few years after
Holly's death, layed with overdubs by Norman Petty,
and released occassionally throughout the 60s.

Aaaaah! The power of bootlegs! And CDR trading!

--- Roy <bootlegMDtrader@...> says:
Doubtful. For one thing, the sound quality is
sub-standard. Many tracks on the box set are from
acetates or rather deficient amatuer recordings.
Those MP3s I uploaded to the files section are ones I
picked for their decent fidelity.
Second thing, the US record industry seems to have
it's head up it's ass. Screw art or historical
importance. Tits & ass are what sells, these days.
Don't hold your breath awaiting an official release of
Buddy Holly apartment demos. The record industry is
too busy selling soft porn and ghetto obscenity.
(Blame us: we give our kids too much money these days
and they buy this crap with it).
The best reissues or collections seem to be imports.
Look at some of the incredible multi-disc sets (Bear
Family is the label, I think) that have come out of
the UK in the last few years. We never get stuff like
that over here.

Who knows? But, in the meantime, one could always
seek out collectors like myself and bootleggers to
circulate rare, unreleased recordings.
