French versions of Holly songs   Message List

There is a French version of "Peggy Sue Got Married," by Maxime
Leforestier. In French the title is "Peggy Sue vient d'epouser un
sot," or "Peggy Sue married a fool." (Interesting.) My French isn't
that great, but I can hear the verb "souffler" (to whisper) and the
phrase "que souffler tous mes mots" ("whisper all the words") in the
second verse, in place of "I just heard a rumor from a friend."

If I had the printed lyrics, I could figure out exactly how the song
translated into French. But I've searched French lyric sites and all
the file sharing sites and found no lyrics or other Maxime
Leforestier song titles that sound like Holly songs.

Does anyone know of other French versions? To me, it seems unlikely
that someone who's recorded as long as Maxime Leforestier would cover
only one Holly song, and not one of the big hits. I'm still thinking
that there's an entire out of print LP of Holly songs in French
waiting to be discovered.

In song searches, "Peggy Sue" sometimes appears in the matches for
Richard Anthony, a French pop singer who covered many late 50s -
early to mid 60s top 40 hits. But I haven't been able to wait through
the queues to get it.
