Dear Joe-

Glad to see that you are feeling better!  We will not be able to make practice on Thurs. due to Back to School night for Zach.  Will you be posting the song list on the site?

Thanks,
Lisa

[OLPHChoirs] First Rehearsal

Greetings All.

I want to thank everyone fot their well-wishes - I'm recovering quite
well from the cracked ribs. My doctor told me this week that if I were
a football player he would give me clearance to play - so as an
organist I'm sure I can suck it up.

Our first rehearsal (finally!) will be this THURSDAY from 8PM to 9:30PM
in the Church. Different day & different time, but I'm sure most of us
will be able to attend on time this way so we can be prepared well for
Sunday.

Please check out the POLL I've posted regarding a possible change of
rehearsal days.

See you all in Church.

Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
OLPHChoirs group:

Joe wants to change our "normal" rehearsal night to TUESDAY night. How would
that affect your attendance or ability to sing with the choir?

o It wouldn't affect my attendance at all.
o It might be a bit of an inconvenience, but I'll deal with it.
o I might miss a few more practices than I normally would if they were on
Tuesdays.
o I'd hardly ever be able to make practice.
o I'd never sing again. Ever.
o It might help me out a little bit, actually.
o I'd make many more practices if our rehearsals were on Tuesdays.
o I'd be the first to arrive and the last to leave. Always.
o Whatever. As long as you don't touch Friday, that's my drinking day.

Greetings All!

I hope everyone has had a good Summer so far -

Our second annual OLPH Choral Enrichment Week is coming up - Save the
dates! Monday, August 18 through Friday, August 22 - 6pm to 9pm in
the church*. I hope that all members of our Parish choir will be
able to attend, as it is an incredibly important springboard into our
new year of singing together. Please mark your calendars, and plan

As we did last year, we will have a number of guest presenters coming
to help us in our efforts to further develop our voices and our
ministry. I have selected four new pieces to add to our repertoire,
and more information on those songs will be posted soon.

General format for the evenings is as follows:

5:40 - Joe will be available for individual work and will be running
some of the new songs for individual voice parts.

6:00 - Warm-up and breathing exercizes

6:15 - We will work on one of our new and challenging pieces.

7:00 - Our guest presenter will guide us through the evening's choral
focus. (eg: dynamics, tonal quality, etc.)

8:00 - More work on repertoire and the application of the skill set
presented by the guest

9:00 - End of the evening

Plan to join me, and come with a pencil!

Joe, et al,

Maureen and I are at the Cape and will not be able to come home for Mary. God rest her soul!  We pray the choir voices will resound to the heavens.
We shall be with you in spirit if not in voice.

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, stirring with a whisk. Due to many of our members having scheduling conflicts (many of which
I am unaware of until I notice that they are not at a particular Mass
or rehearsal) I am cancelling the rest of our appointments for this
season. We will all come together to sing at Mass on May 25 - this
Sunday, and then we will not meet again until JUNE 18 for a
rehearsal. This rehearsal is for the Parish's 110th Anniversary Mass
on June 22 at 12:15, so I sincerely hope that many of you will find
time in your schedules to help the Parish celebrate this joyous event.

Here's what we have left:

Mass on May 25 @ 10:15 in the Church

Rehearsal on June 18 @ 7:30 in the Church.

Mass on June 22 @ 11:45 in the Church.

The calendar has been updated to reflect these dates. If you know of
anyone who has not yet signed up to receive these messages, please
encourage them to do so.

God Bless,

~ JC

I am afraid that I have the flu and will not be with you this evening. I will be there on Sunday.

Just wanted to post a couple of reminders:

Generally, our warmup time for all Masses is a half hour before Mass
begins, eg. warmup for our 10:45 Mass is at 10:15. On the calendar,
I have posted warmup times for each event - just click on the event
if there is anyquestion as to the warmup time.

My cellphone, which I use to keep time during Mass, usually runs
about 5 minutes slow, which allows for a bit of an extra grace period
before our warmup starts.

Our sound quality and overall performance is greatly aided by full
participation in the warmup and the notes I give before Mass.

Let's all make a concerted effort to show up on time for warmup
whenever possible.

Thanks, and I'll see everyone at 7:30pm on Wednesday for pre-practice
warmup.

The stupid school hosting our final track meet of the season changed the date from Saturday to Sunday.  Since I have to be down there by 11:30am, I'll be attending the 9am Mass and can help with cantoring as needed.  I think it's a Children's Mass, so I most likely be helping Joe herd cats.

I expect to be at practice on Wednesday.
