Workshop:
Waldman, Tamsula and Shean will lead a two part workshop: Fiddling from Playing
to the Business of Music, Saturday, October 29 from 2-4:00pm. The cost is $25
for both sessions and $15 for individual sessions. During Workshop I from 2-3pm,
the three musicians will take part in a panel of fiddle styles where they'll
play a few tunes, discuss their backgrounds as fiddlers, take questions, and
answer anything you might ever want to know about the instrument. During
Workshop II from 3-4:00pm, each musician will separately lead a group session:
(a) Waldman: the business end of being a performer from getting gigs to making a
CD; (b) Tamsula: fiddling; (c) Shean: five sting banjo. Contact the Calliope
office to register. 412-361-1915, calliope@...

Appalachian-style fiddle tunes frame Waldman's poems about life in Alaska as a
teacher, writer, and musician; unique approach to both traditional music and
poetry; draws on his 18 years in Alaska to produce poems, stories and fiddle
tunes that combine into a performance uniquely his own; addictive, the kind of
music that sweeps down and forces you to feel it in your bones.
