Waking Up Tillie--House Concert at Curt & Annie's   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #386 of 575 |
Hey, all --

If you haven't heard yet (sorry if this is a duplicate message), the great
Old-timey band, "Waking up Tillie" will be playing for a House Concert at our
house on Saturday, April 14, at 8:00.

This band captures the essence of old-time harmony singing--and they love to get
folks singing and shouting and up on their feet! (They’ll also be pla ying for
the Pittsburgh contra dance on Friday evening, April 13.) We sure enjoyed them
when they were here a couple years ago!

Fiddler Randy Johnson honed his fiddling skills touring with Pittsburgh’s own
Coal Country Cloggers. He has recorded with many well-known bands, and has won
many awards for his dynamic fiddling.

Award-winning banjo player, Pete Peterson, is a walking old-time music history
book. His Carter family guitar style and harmonies are exceptional.

Kellie Allen is an accomplished old-time singer and sought-after backup
guitarist. She grew up in a large family of singers and musicians from Kansas
and currently plays and sings with several bands that feature great singing.

For more info about the band, check out their website:

There will probably be a jam after the concert, so bring your voices and your
instruments. For reservations and more information, reply to this email, or call
Curt or Annie at 412-343-0498.

Hope to see you there!

Annie
