This was from the New River/Blacksburg, VA OT Listserve. I thought some of you who have been to the Henry Reed Festival might like to see this note.

Subject: Henry Reed Documentary
Hello all, Chris from Horse Archer Productions here. I'm more of a reader of the list serv than I am a participating writer. But I came to you all about 18 months ago in regards to a documentary we were filmming about the life and local musical influence of Henry Reed. For a myriad of reasons we had to put the doc on hold until now. We are looking to have the film done in spring of 08, with a premiere locally. We are finishing up the last of the production phase. I spoke to several folks off list at that time and I wanted to put the word out there again that we're looking for folks who play Henry Reed tunes or were influenced by his style. We're most interested in seeing how Henry's music had an effect on the local OT music scene. We're also looking for people who knew/played with Henry. We've interviewed a few of his children with plans to interview another soon. This story is still developing for me so any help anyone can provide on Henry, his music, it's effect on this area etc, please feel free to contact me off list. Also, if you have a "you know who you should talk to" moment please contact me as well. Lastly, I'm a filmmaker who like OT music. I am not a musician so I'm really asking this list serv to guide me on what his music means. Being the keepers of local OT musical traditions, it's your documentary as much as it is mine. Thank you all. Hope you have a good holiday.
