I'm delighted to announce that local Old-time favorites, the Lackawanna Longnecks, will be playing for a house concert on Saturday, October 25, at 8:00, at the home of Curt Cooper and Annie Trimble in Mt. Lebanon.
The Lackawanna Longnecks are an Old-time stringband based in Pittsburgh, playing music in the traditional style of rural Appalachia. This group has been playing together for over 20 years. With Mark Tamsula on banjo, Frank Falvo on fiddle, and Mike Reing on guitar, the Longneck's acoustic stringband plays regularly at concerts, square dances, and parties around Pittsburgh.
FROM ANNIE: On a personal note, having played with these musicians in other bands, at pickup gigs, and at jams around Western Pennsylvania and in West Virginia, these guys are the BEST. I consider this band a premier preserver and presenter of songs and tunes handed down from the fiddlers, fife players, and banjo players in Southwestern Pennsylvania and south through the Appalachian mountain area. There's an amazing (and often forgotten) legacy that the Longnecks are successfully preserving through their wonderful heart-felt music.
`Nough said.
For reservations or more information, reply to this email or call Curt or Annie at 412-343-0498.
Hope to see you at this great concert! (There'll definitely be a jam afterwards, so bring your instruments!)
